Man, I can't seem to shake the OSU cobwebs! Tressel is fundamentally sound in hitting Ohio and he does it hard...maybe Lloyd Carr is losing his edge on the Ohio side of things.........
Carr has always led with hostility and it has worked for the most part before Tressel's calmness.
Ohio State is #1 but late November, they will be scooping up a lot of poop...because they will find a way to screw it up one way or another.

Keno, when it comes to OSU/Michigan threads, I am your worst nightmare.
Allow me to respond to a couple of the comments you made.
#1...Carr is losing the recruiting battle in Ohio because OSU is an NFL training ground. And because Carr is a cry baby. It's embarassing watching him whine about every call that goes against Michigan. Plus he has a bad attitude with the media, and it really makes Michigan look bad.
#2...Carr leads with hostility vs. Tressel/calmness? Don't exactly know what that means, but you are once again referring to the Cooper era.
#3...When was the last time you saw a Tressel team "screw up" against Michigan. We whooped your tail 2 out of the last 3 times @UM, and we own you in the the 'shoe.
Face it baby, we are the #1 team in the country! THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!

MTown,
Let me counter on the offensive.
1)...Tressel turned the tide vastly when Dustin Fox (GlenOak) decided to stay at OSU and play for Tressel rather than transfer to Penn State upon hearing of Cooper's dismissal. That didn't sit well with me but the fact that Fox won a national title validates Tressel's success to a tee.
2)...Lloyd Carr has always led with hostility. He believes that hostility is the way to win games. Most games are unfriendly and no one wins those kinds of games better than Michigan. Tressel on the other hand leads with calmness as he believes that if you keep your composure even in the heat of the moment, you will eventually win.
On Carr and the media--I defended Carr when he ripped ABC's Todd Harris for asking him about why he took a knee with 44 seconds left in the half after an OSU touchdown. "Now why would you ask a stupid question" was Carr's question to Harris. If anything, Carr made a donkey out of Harris.
3) 2003...Ohio State's defense lost that game for them period. They gave up 35 points...35 POINTS! Chris Perry ran 30 times for 152 yards, Braylon Edwards had seven catches for 130 yards and two scores and John Navarre was 21 of 32 for 267 yards and two scores.
Michigan just hasn't been able to seal the deal the last two years. And if Michigan loses again (and quote me on this), I hope that Bobby Grizzard whisks me away in handcuffs to a Massillon police cruiser in front of everyone at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium to spend a night in the Massillon City Jail! Quote me on that!

 Let's be nice to the team up north and coach carr. If it wasn't for Coach Carr Ohio State would be getting the two best H.S. kids out of Michigan coming to the Buckeyes.
Let's all say thanks carr for sending the best receivers in loseagain (oops sorry, michigan) thanks for a job well done.
GO BUCKEYES!!!!!:no1:

Keno, what are you talking about? I would really like to know how Dustin Fox deciding against transferring was more important than any other player who could have transferred. And if you are referring to Penn St because of his brother, I will remind that Fox had a family name at OSU because of Tim Fox who was one of Ohio State greatest DB's ever during the mid-70's. In fact, I specifically remember Tim Fox because serious PO'd when his nephew, Derek, went to Penn St. I highly doubt that Tressel "turned the tide" because of Dustin Fox. The tide turned when we came out of nowhere and smoked you on your turf in 2001.
Your quote: Most games are unfriendly and no one wins those kinds of games better than Michigan.
I would say that most OSU/Michigan games are unfriendly....and, recently OSU wins those kinds of games better than Michigan.
And let us please talk about somebody's defense losing the game. Did you forget the COLLAPSE of your D last year? How about the year before when Troy Smith went for 450 total yards. YOU FREAKING WISH you had a defense as good as ours has been the last 4 years.
And in response to your night in jail...... Believe me, I will remember you said that.
Keno, it is time that you bow down to the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.

:scratchchin: Hmm... I may have to talk to my old softball buddy and co-city worker Bobby about this, I bet we could make it happen. Cause Meechigan doesn't stand a chance against the Bucks this year!
Hey Keno, get used to this pose cause it's gonna be a regular event for a few years!!!

You all are some low down, dirty, arrogant, bold, crazy, decisive, egotistical, freakish, gut-wrenching, heated, intense, jovial, keen, lewd, malevolent, numerical, outrageous, puffed, questionable, radical, silly, tense, united, vile, whole, x-rated, yellow, zany snakes in the grass    !!!!!
Man, this is worse than when the only person who can put me through a world of pain, Lindsay "Bringing The Pain" LaFontaine (MUC 05') let me have it after Michigan's 37-21 collapse in 2004 (don't make me discuss the details).
Funny because it hurt even more in 2001 when I had to sing the Ohio State fight song in front of my Sports Management class when OSU won 26-21, to the delight of Kurt Edie (MUC 05').
Where's Tiger Don's son at so he can bail me out of this predicament?!?!

I wonder if the poll and votes were done before Oklahoma's players were suspended.
I can't believe that a #1 and #2 will be playing so early in the season. I can't wait for this year.

Keep in mind, it's PRE-season, and most times, teams don't run the table, and don't look for this year to be any exception to that rule. Before you worry about UM, you better worry about this important date:
Saturday, Sept. 9 AT Texas Austin, TX 8 p.m.
That could ruin your title dreams early.

This is why I am praying that we whoop Moe quickly, with no OT so I can make it to Columbus in time to watch the game in a bar down there so I will be ready for the victory party!

Troy Smith gives props to Zwick[Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
Buckeyes QB acknowledges debt of gratitude to Moon
Sunday, August 6, 2006 SUNDAY SPECIAL BY TODD PORTER
The end of two-hour media sessions was winding down. Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith was losing interest, but he remained polite as he answered the same question for the fourth or fifth time.
Then the subject of Warren Moon came up.
Smith’s posture changed. His eyes lit up.
“Warren Moon was one of the first trailblazers for myself at the position,” said Smith, whose race is not a factor the way it was for Moon as a college quarterback. “He’s a quarterback through and through. There were things Warren Moon did in his career that, hopefully, I can mirror, but in essence, I won’t be able to touch. He is a great athlete. You can’t say enough about Warren Moon.”
Moon wasn’t recruited as a major Division I college quarterback because he is black. After Hamilton High School near Los Angeles, Moon went to a junior college, because his high school coach went there. He had the opportunity to play quarterback before he transferred to Washington.
There was never a doubt that Smith would be a quarterback in college.
“All of us (black quarterbacks) did what we could to make the game better for the guys coming after us,” Moon said. “I always had that extra burden when I went out on the field to play the game for my people. I probably would have been a much better player if I didn’t have that burden. I carried that burden proudly.”
Smith won’t have to play football in the CFL to be a quarterback. Long ago, the NFL has gotten past race as it relates to quarterbacks.
“Without Warren Moon, there wouldn’t be a Vince Young, Michael Vick or Donovan McNabb,” Smith said. “Warren Moon was the first one to make it to the level where people could understand whatever color you are, you can play any position.”
SMITH A ZWICK FAN
There should be no misconception that Smith and backup quarterback Justin Zwick do not get along.
To the contrary.
“People don’t give Justin enough credit,” Smith said. “If our tight end (Ryan Hamby) caught the ball against Texas, we would have won the game. They just remember the last play where (Zwick) lost the ball. That’s the knock on him, and that’s not fair to him.”
Zwick threw what should have been the game-winning touchdown pass to Hamby, who dropped the ball in the end zone. After Texas took the lead late in the game, Zwick fumbled on a run. It would have been a desperation drive.
Ohio State Head Coach Jim Tressel said he has no regrets about sending Zwick out for the final drive.
“It’s just feel,” he said. “There are always plays when you go home as a coach and second-guess yourself. There are a lot of plays you remember. That wasn’t one of them.”
Tressel was referring to the fumble.
ON TRESSEL
Smith was asked if Tressel has a mean streak. Smith laughed.
“He looks nice,” Smith said. “His hair is always nice, he dresses nice, he wears cologne, but some of those meetings with him can be brutal.”
SMITH A BROWN?
While Smith will have no say as to where he is drafted, he said he would like to play for the Browns.
“I love the Browns,” said Smith, who grew up in Cleveland and graduated from Glenville High School. “You’d be crazy not to want to play for the Browns.
“A lot of people that I deal with in general say they are moving when they got some money. That bothers me. I think Ohio is where it’s at.”
It reminded Smith of the reason he went to Ohio State. The Buckeyes were late in the recruiting process for Smith. Even when they did offer, it was after Zwick had verbally committed. Smith was told he’d have to play wide receiver his first fall practice in Columbus.
“I went to Ohio State because I knew as soon as they came knocking, it would be a no-brainer,” Smith said. “I’m an Ohio guy. I want things to be set right in the state of Ohio. I have a dream to make Ohio a better place. I want people to say, ‘I want to go to Ohio,’ like they say, ‘Man I want to go to L.A. or I want to go to Miami.’ ”
Now ... about that weather degree.
BRINSON NOT AT WVA?
Former McKinley High standout Ryan Brinson was supposed to be playing football for West Virginia this season. He signed a letter of intent with the Mountaineers after spending a season at Hargrave Military Academy.
Brinson’s name was removed from the West Virginia roster during the last couple of weeks, and it’s unclear what his status there is.
