New forum.... a LOT different than our last forum. WAY more features... What's your tip on how to do something that's been a pain?
My first tip:
Check your time zone, for correct time display on the posts:
On the bar near the top of the screen, there's a "quick links" click that. Under user control panel, click edit options. Scroll down and the time zone settings are there...
Here in Ohio, it's GMT - 5 EASTERN Time Zone...
Also: check whether you have your Daylight Savings Times set correctly. Otherwise the time displayed to you may be off by 1 hour.

Folks, I found a neat feature called Top Posters...
We all know it's Carle, but let's atleast give him a run for his money!
To see the top 10 posters in several categories, click on the black toolbar "Quick Links, Display Top Posters"
You'll find the top 10 posters for the last 24 hours, 7 days, 28 days?, and overall.

Ok, here is my admitance to computer ignorance. I could not figure out until last night how in the heck to subscribe to a thread that I wasn't posting on:doh: Sooooo, just in case there is one other poster out there that is as dumb as I am, you have to click onto the black tab that says "thread tools" at the top of that particular thread.
Now are there any tips concerning the smilie part? or is that just the way it is? I hate have to click onto the "more" smilies thing and having to enlarge that box everytime. BUT, that is the ONLY thing I dislike about this entire new setup!

Guys,
Jim has forgotten more about web sites than I will ever know. I had a great opportunity to meet with Jim for 3 hours and what a learning experience. Let's help make his site OUR site. And keep it Championship caliber......

I'm not on the list yet... but I probably will be eventually. The old list I was solidly #7 for a long time.

jim,
there is an option i think that you can put in the Welcome box where the PM notice is listed that will tell you how many posts have been made since you last visited. that is a nice feature that you could add which helps cut down time sorting through the forums. you can just click on that button and it lists all of the posts for you.
i don't know if that makes any sense, but it is a cool feature.

Use the ignore list to identify those pain-in-the-posterior posters with whom you wish would "just go away".
I just solved one of my problems!:trophy:

Is there something in my CP to change the post times to the actual time it was posted instead of x minutes or x hours ago?

Not sure if that's a user setting. I know I set it in the main CP for hours and minutes ago... After it goes beyond a couple days I think it then displays the date.
I may change it over to time and date just to see how that looks.

I have another stupid question. What is the point in creating a "buddylist" ? I mean, what purpose does it serve as far as being on this site?

My best guess would be that you could PM everyone on your buddy list at the same time...

Is there something in my CP to change the post times to the actual time it was posted instead of x minutes or x hours ago?Butler...this new format is the exact same one that has been in use by Yappi.com for the past year. It's really simple to use.
To adjust the time, click on "User CP", then click on "Edit Options". Scroll down until you see "Date & Time Options".
I'm not sure how to change the date when the post was made. I think obiefan has to do that. On Yappi, it shows the date and time the post was made instead of X hours ago.
Obiefan......any suggestions for this?

Butler and Purple-
As much as I liked the 1 minute ago, one hour ago listing, I have changed that to the time/date stamp.
It just wasn't able to be changed on a user - user basis.
