As stated in today's (8/3/06) Independent seven captains have been chosen.

On Tuesday, Tiger players selected the team captains, and elected a total of seven. Players earning the honor were Darian McGuire, Andrew Dailey, Bobby Huth, Brian Gamble, Antonio Scassa, Cory Shane and Emery Saunders.

They are all captains...but I think there is only a limit of four or five you can send out for the coin toss.

But if you want my opinion, it would be an asset to send out all seven of them because it shows a bond between the players and also solidifies that they are the defending Division I state finalists and are on a goal to get back to the Super Bowl of Division I football...the title game

These seven men mentioned will execute their roles as captains real well. They epitomize what Tom Stacy wants in captains...men who will lead with force but more importantly, win with force.

As far as I know during the regular season you can but during the playoffs you can have a max of 4, another brilliant OHSAA rule...Congrats to all 7! Back to the Ship'!!!

OHSAA has all kinds of strange post-season regulations (like the number of cheerleaders you can have on the field). The question is, what would they do about it?

I propose that we send all 7 of these guys out 15 times this year and see what happens.

I would love to see Massillon test it and send the whole team out for a coin flip in a playoff game, but knowing the OHSAA they would ban us from the playoffs for 3 years/ :ohno:

Didn't we have too many a few times in Tiger history? Wasn't there some sort of rotation? I don't want to say I know this for a fact, just wanted to get this resolved.

i can see where having too many guys out there for the coin toss can give us an advantage......NOT!

Actually, we should find and suit up the 4 biggest guys in town- get some 6'7" 350 pounders- and send them out there to give the opposition something to think about.

I was watching the 2005 Massillon DVD (mp.com version) and at the State Title game versus St. Xavier we only had 4 Captians for the coin toss.....Robert Morris had to stand about 5 yds back from the rest of the Captains. I guess there's your answer...4!
