I really hope this game happens. I believe that Valdosta fans would travel well for this game. The big factor will be money and availability of dates. For Valdosta to do this, they would probably have to fly and give up a home game which will cost them thousands of dollars. I believe that someone will have to compensate for those losses.

If we do play, you should see a very talented and speedy Valdosta team with a lot of upperclassmen. Also, we have a new coach who is the winningest in Georgia over the past 14 years. Valdosta has been down by their standards over the past 4 or 5 years but they should have a shot at the state championship over the next 2 seasons. Our cross town rivals, Lowndes will try to tell you that the program is not going to recover but they don't know what they are talking about. One thing that they don't mention is that our new coach used to coach them and they parted on bad terms.

It would be a great game. It might even be worth making the trip to Ohio from Augusta, GA.

its not going to happen.the supt. and the chairman of the vboe arent going to support it.the supt. is concerned about liabilty and the chair says if the band isnt included he want support it.its doubtful the vboe will approve it without those men on board.

Don't be so sure. We play Hamilton from Chandler Arizona on Sept 16th. They are brining their band and an estimated "several hundred fans". If they can do it now why wouln't Valdosta be able to do it next year?

Follow-up question, what is the typical attendance at a home Wildcat game?

It all depends on if it's harvest-pickin' season down there on the farms or not.

Average attendance is around $7,500 for home games. It can be much larger for a big game or a little less for mediocre competition. See link below for a USA Today article from 2004.

Average attendance 7,500 not $7,500. I had dollars on the brain from reading the article that I linked talking about the money spent on the program.

We play 1 or 2 Florida teams each year. The teams that we play are normally top teams in the state.

I have said it before, with our scheduling issues in recent times, I would not mind at all seeing the Tigers go out and play other top teams from other states, especially would love seeing them come here to Tenn... There are a couple of schools here who talk a big game... Would love to show them what high school football is really about.... Anyone ever her of Oak Ridge High School??? That is one school that talks (and sometimes plays) a big game. They lost the state finals like we did last year....

over the past 10 seasons valdosta is the 4th winningest program in the state's highest classification.they've been going thru a transition period since the sudden passing of then head coach nick hyder who would still be coaching.their not the first program to hire a long time asst coach who couldnt get the job done.they now feel they have the right fit in their new head coach.i suggest you massillon fans write letters to the editor of the valdosta daily times about playing this game and that will get the cat fans talking.this has been covered in the valdosta paper only one time several weeks ago.its not talked about in valdosta cause very few people know about it.i can assure you the cats and their fans have been hott to play this game.
help us out tiger fans.
