Any fan of any team either loves or hates their head coach. What is amazing is the level of talent changes from year to year amongst the players, and coaching styles (if you switch coaches a lot). When you look back at your own history it is not so bad in the win/ lose columns (especially if your a powerhouse organization). You have to ask yourself, if you were an in-coming head coach can you handle the crowds of Massillon/Warren/St. Ignatius/St. Ed's/Canton McKinley and others? :ohno:
We are all hungry for that state title, some more than others, but nontheless that state title is the only goal that matters. Teams that bow out, get ready for next year. Teams that make it another week, prepare for the next game. Is it good to switch coaches so often, before they get their system in place? How many years on average do you give a coach a chance? I was watching Friday Night Lights and wondered how accurate is this for a coaching family. It is accurate give or take a few things. Coach takes his daughter to a restaurant in town, loses a big game and someone says pack your bags. Nice, real smart, idiot. This is what I am getting at:
I do not see Kyle of Ignatius going anywhere whether his teams are 6-3 or 6-4, yet they make the playoffs because of who they play. St. Ed's coach, also has been there for a time. Stacy is what? In his second year? 2 playoff appearances which average out to what? 100% on the playoff appearance map? Last year Massillon almost won the State Championship. Who knows what will happen this playoff season. McDaniels has been with us for 7 or 8 years. We have gone to the playoffs under McD. 6 out of 8 seasons with him I believe. That is 75% of the time! Do you fair better under a coach who is overall winning consistently, (and gets you a few state championships or at least keeps you close and gives you a chance to win some big games), or do you get rid of him after a couple of losing seasons. Only the organization can answer that for themselves. Your thoughts please:
