Kanye West isn't a thug by any stretch of the imagination. He is just an asshole who walks around with a chip on his shoulder for whatever reason. He really had been on pretty good behavior in the recent past but I guess it was bound to happen again.

SternRulz,

Kanye Omari West was wrong to do that. Taylor Swift deserved her victory and I for one commend Beyonce for doing what was right in having Miss Swift come back on stage to accept her award.

Mr. West was verbally slapped anyway by our vivid and venerable friend on the old MassillonProud.com for that comment on why Bush hated blacks or something like this. Well...one slap to one side of the face deserves another slap to the other side of the face.

However, Mr. West did apologize to Miss Swift and her mom, which was accepted.

Having said that...let's not forget Serena Jameka Williams and her U.S. Open tennis outburst..."I swear...I'm going to take this ****ing ball and shove it down your ****ing throat" she told a line judge in her loss to Kim Clijsters.

What a weekend this was! I can see it right now......

Running back Tony Stripes is embraced by head coach Serena Williams after rushing 32 times for 177 yards and four touchdowns. "We wanted to take the ****ing ball and shove it down their ****ing throats," she said after the team's victory

One of the worst live moments I have ever witnessed. I was watching with my older kids and none of us could believe what that ass had just done. Douche, was their preferred word.

That is one person who needs a good beating for being such a clueless, classless moron. He had no right to pull a stupid stunt like that ruining that 17 year old girl's moment. And you could tell that Beyonce was equally horriefied by the look of shock on her face.

At least she had enough class to give Taylor back her moment on her own air time.

I don't even know how they let that piece of crap get up on the stage in the first place. Where were the security people?

At least he got his just "boos" when his name was announced as a nominee for one of the categories.

Kamd50,

Miss Swift is 19. Oh, it's not the first time that Mr. West has embittered you going back to the old MassillonProud.com but it came with good reason in reference to past comments.

You just do not take away from a person's winning moment. That would be like me winning a journalism award and someone coming up on stage and calling me stupid, ignorant, immature, etc. whatever words I can find.

I thought about going on his site and saying something. I really wanted to but declined for the better of it.

I credit Miss Swift for being able to forgive K.O. West and accept his apology along with her mother. From all fronts, it was a stupid mistake by Mr. West that didn't have to be made.

I didn't actually witness it last night, but I heard the replay this morning on the Stern show. They played the clips and talked about it for a bit.

As bad as it was, I'm not sure that it was worse than when he said Bush doesn't like black people on Live TV. Just the audacity and sheer ignorance to say something like that baffles me. I can still see the horrified look on Mike Meyers face. That look cracks me up now, but man...that was shocking for weeks afterwards. I would have given anything to be a fly on the Myers wall after that.

No Bush didn't like New orleans much to let the city suffer! Some comments about Hurricane katrina was warranted. However, I wouldn't say bush doesn't like black people but all of America left those people to DIE! That is not AMERICAN!

Kayne West has been going through some stuff since his mom passed away but last night he was a real @sshole!!!

I'll never forget the aerial photograph of about 100 city school buses sitting in a parking lot with about 4 feet or more of water everywhere. If the city would have made more of an effort to get people out, it could have been done. Obviously there were mistakes made but America didn't leave anyone to die.

The people of New Orleans were told to leave. They were told a massive hurricane was bearing down on them. They choose to stay and not let their lives be interrupted by a hurricane, and their leaders let them.

When the hurricane came and destroyed New Orleans, they sat on the curb shook their fists and chanted Help! Help! Help!

Yet somehow they blame a man a thousand miles away for not giving them free lodging and food fast enough.

1. FEMA cannot come in until they are requested to do so by local authorities.
2. Offers were made to help evacuate residents before Katrina hit. For instance, Amtrak was told that their offer of trains was not needed.

The fundamental problem is that the hardest-hit areas of New Orleans shouldn't have existed in the first place. It is folly to build and live where those people did. The best solution for the 9th ward, etc. is wholesale abandonment: Tear it all down, and turn it into parks, golf courses, or simply let it go back to nature.

People like him make it tougher on ALL of us regardless of race, who would like to see all of the extremist nonsense come to an end.

The worst part is that he professes to be a Chritian, and practices HATE so openly.

Massillon Catholic,

You can be pro-white without being racist, the same as anyone being pro-black and not being racist. It's just a matter of you not making negative comments about the other race. If you degrade a race, then that makes you a racist. But if you don't then you're in good shape.

All due respect Monte, but can you imagine what kind of criticism the Government would have faced if they had DENIED the building permits for these areas? That's a whole different issue, and this is a no win situation.

Bad crap happens, and there is no rhyme nor reason to it. No matter what decision the government made, as soon as something bad happens, there are ALWAYS people lining up to point the finger at the persons they feel are responsible. Usually the object of their ire is the government official, or leader of the political party they oppose. It's very easy, (and usually irresponsible) to do that.

Do you HONESTLY believe that these people were purposely left there to suffer, without any regard for their welfare, or was this a situation that was unprecedented, and there was no "handbook" on how to react?

Secondarily, mandatory evacuation doesn't mean that everyone will leave... (see California wildfire victims that did NOT blame a government official). Some of these unfortunate people made a conscious decision to stay, even though they were advised to do otherwise.

The history channel has been running a show about America's crumbling infrastructure, and based on what this show says there are a lot more New Orleans out there.

They mentioned several levee systems and dams that were weak. There is a levee in California that supplys fresh water to the bottom half of the state. It is apparently in bad shape and if it fails from an earthquake or other reason, no water in the south of Ca. for as long as three years!

Proud to Be, I think you are "right on" in your post. New Orleans had been a train wreck waiting to happen forever. Due to constantly being faced with the possibility of "The Big One" coming, the people tended to become numb to hurricane warnings and watches, seeing as they had been "scared and spared" so many times. Unfortunately, they should have known the condition of the levies long before Katrina hit, that is where the officials from Nagin to the Governor of Louisiana to the Fema Director (who didn't want to be interrupted during his dinner) were at odds due to lack of communication and planning. It was a tragedy waiting to happen, and when it did hit the finger-pointing started, however, I am sure that some of the people in The Bayou didn't realize the severity of the problem. Many decided to stay as I am sure that they had in the past, due to lack of transportation or a need to be with their kin and friends. It was a very sad scenario. Since then I hope that they have developed an evacuation plan and have found a better way of communicating with ALL of their citizens.

Perhaps it wasn't meant to be developed in those areas. As I previously posted, when you see their graveyards, they are above ground which is very eerie to see; eerie, but perhaps prophetic.

I totally agree Kamd !! I wish her Dad woulda jumped out and pimp slapped his silly azz !! I woulda !!

No Bush didn't like New orleans much to let the city suffer! Some comments about Hurricane katrina was warranted. However, I wouldn't say bush doesn't like black people but all of America left those people to DIE! That is not AMERICAN!

Monte,
They told those people to leave. They wouldn't , because they were waiting on the gov't check, which was coming in 2 days.

I don't care if you're black , red , yellow, or pale white: When the weatherman says the hurricane is coming, and the LOCAL GOVERNMENT tells you to EVACUTE the area, your dumb butt better start hoofin' !!

This hurricane didn't just jump up overnite !!

Kanye West is a racist... pure and simple. There is a big difference between being Pro-Black and being Anti-White. If another black artist had won, other than Beyonce, he would have kept his mouth shut.

People like him make it tougher on ALL of us regardless of race, who would like to see all of the extremist nonsense come to an end.
The worst part is that he professes to be a Chritian, and practices HATE so openly.

JMHO

I agree PTB ! And, if this were a race -reversal situation, Jesse and Al woulda been up at the crack of dawn on " GOOD MORNING AMERICA" !!

DAWGH8R,

If the greatest devout Christian I know can stop me......think about what could happen to Mr. Jackson and Mr. Sharpton.

P.S. Mr. West's behavior is un-Christian like by the way. Now I'm no Christian but I am aware of people who practice strong standards of their faith.

All I can say in EVERYONE in power were wrong---most people who stayed had no choice! Mayor nagin, Govener, President, etc,.... is all at fault!! The one's who had opportunity to leave but didn't, shame on them. However, that does not account for the hundreds left in hospitals, nursing homes, the shut ins, etc,.... like I said---NO EXCUSES! The young and able---screw them if they stayed. However, if your family member was elderly and caught up down there--I dont think many of you would feel the same way.

The best thing he can do is not open his mouth unless he's singing.

I think Kanye's biggest problem is not that he's racist (not saying tht he's not), but that he thinks everyone else is racist.

Whenever something doesn't go how he thinks it should go, he thinks it's about race, which in turn makes him say and do things that appear to be, or are racist.

SternRulz,

No matter who you are, race should never be a factor in anything. If Mr. West thinks everyone else is racist, he's better off not making anything of that.

I mean, come on. At some point the man is going to have to understand that. Heck, if DAWGH8R had a car at the Massillon Car Show and he won the award for best car and mine finished second to his and I was the only black in the competition, what's Mr. West going to do? Go to an Independent reporter and say "DAWGH8R, you had the best car, but my man Keno had the best car of all time here and it was overlooked" or something like that?

And we know what the vivid and venerable one would think of that: "you know, I hate that racist s***."

I think that he did all of this for attention......and he got it!! He is no different than Madonna. They are both controversial, ( she more in her earlier years) and want to be in the spotlight. He always seems to run his mouth when he feels he is not getting enough publicity. Some may call him stupid, but what he did , got him what he wanted....he is in the headlines. To borrow a saying from our Ex- Prez....MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. :oh:

Hmmmmm...never thought of it that way, but I personally don't think so. I think he's just an immature idiot who doesn't know any better and thinks the world owes him something because he's black and made a few hit records. JMO.

Regardless, Madonna made controversy at her own expense, not someone else's. And he has to see that thousands of artists have proven that you can be highly successful without continuously being a complete moron like this. If that's his strategy, he's going about it the wrong way because he's losing fans. Even the other artists booed him!

All that being said...it is quite obvious that he's an attention wh*re. Leno shouldn't have had him on. I started watching the show but turned it when I learned he was on.

Yeah---who gives zoning and building permits---GOVT. So he said nothing that really made up for the fact that they left elderly, handicapped, and poor people to DIE. If the land is not suitable to live on----DONT BUILD!

If it is a mandatory evacuation---- get the people out who cant get out on their own!!

you are correct about the government giving permits to build. But that is all LOCAL government.I'm pretty sure G.W. Bush had nothing to do with anything ever build in the Big Easy. The majority of blame for so many people dieing goes to the local government and a lot of it's citizens just making a bad decision to stay with a #5 hurricane coming straight towards them. IMO the largest amount of blame goes to city, county, then state government. The Fed has the least amount of blame but gets the most because everyone knows who's in the white house and not many people know who runs N.O. and Louisiana's governments. Bush did give $22 billion for rebuilding. How much of that actually got there I would like to know after the local government got their hands on it.

It's in the clip that I posted SR. He sounded like a blithering idiot, and didn't answer the question. Leno let him off the hook, just when he had him squirming.
