View Full Version : Problems with Restaurants

I was just wondering if people have the same problems as my wife and I at restaurants. Both of us worked at restaurants and we are very patient and understanding, but we can’t believe how many times we have had problems lately.

My wife and I have a favorite chain restaurant. Neither of us is a big fan of onions, especially my wife. Every time we go to this restaurant in NC, they always forget to leave the onions out. Then when they take it back they just pick the onions out. We could have done that ourselves. In Ohio we never had any problems with this. Even when we specify that we have eaten there before and the cook has forgot and they assured us that they will not put them in, they still forget.

Twice at the same pizza place we ordered and waited over a half an hour. The first time they didn’t know what happened to our order slip. The second time they accidentally gave our pizza to someone at the drive through.

We ordered breakfast at a chain restaurant on our trip back from vacation. It was very busy and we got a table just before a line started and they had to take names. After we started to see about 4 tables get served who came after us, we got up to leave. We had waited about a half hour for breakfast. We went to the register and told the cashier what happened and that we just wanted to pay for our juice and leave. The server came up and said “What’s the problem.” We told her what we had just told the cashier. She was just said don’t worry about the drinks then. Didn’t apologize or anything.

Here was the best. My mom was on a business trip down here and met us for lunch. We had a server who said he was new. Every time he messed up or forgot something he either said, “sorry, I’m new,” or made up a complete obvious lie. He forgot our appetizer and then told us that he had just put in the ticket. Why/how would he have just put in the ticket when we already have our dinner. We paid by credit card and left a small tip on the table. Later when we looked at our credit card bill there was a tip charge of like $3. We were going to call the restaurant but it happened right before our vacation and we were busy and then forgot about it when we got back.

My dad once had water spilled all over him and they didn’t apologize, give a discount, or anything. I was just curious if others had as many problems as we have. What has happened to you or your family at a restaurant?

They hate you because you are a yankee carpetbagger. You don't even want to know what they are doing to your food in the kitchen.

Perhaps. As long as I don't know. Most seem friendly but my wife has had a few customers call her a d*** yankee. I actually saw a bumper sticker once that said North 1 South 0...halftime.

Back to the topic...
Actually the pizza thing happened in Ohio. I just remembered how my dad ordered a sandwich from a restaurant once and they didn't give hime the bottom bun. How do you forget that?

Yes it seems like good service is forgotten in many places. For me quality service is as important as the food and I frequent the places with quality service. I would say I'm an above average tipper for good service. I have no problem leaving nothing for bad service.

I hate the restaurants where they don't write down your order, just try to remember it and they never get it right.

Just yesterday my son and I went through the drive-thru at Taco Bell. And when we got home the first thing he did was look at the register receipt and it was not our order. So I had to drive back up there and go inside and tell them this was not ours. Well they went through it and found that half of what we ordered was in the bag, minus 2 items and 2 items that had the wrong kind of shell. They were like, well, you only are missing 2 things but someone must have put the wrong receipt in your bag:rock: I mean I just had to laugh cause it was so silly and they were apologetic. Then they were told us we might as well keep the "wrong" items too, because they would just have to throw them out:tounge:

Lesson: ALWAYS check your bag when you go to a drive-thru before you pull away! I usually always have my kids check, but it was just so dang hot yesterday, I just wanted to get back home. Figures! I might have been more mad though, if I would have had to drive back from the other side of town though.

Taco Bell always screws-up the orders...
It just wouldn't be a trip to Taco Bell if they got the order right.

Did ya ever watch the guy try to subtract to condiments you don't want off the screen?? You can see those wheels spinning ("hmmmm did I push the lettuce button yet, or was that the sour cream??") Order a Baja Chulupa and you get a Gordita Supreme. It's a good thing I like most things on their menu.

Doesn't seem like when you check it is usually ok. The one time you forget to check it is wrong.

Taco Bell does seem to mess up a good bit.

It's a good thing I like most things on their menu.
I agree. One time my order was completely messed up. I didn't realize until I was almost home. I was hungry and didn't feel like going back so I just ate what was in the back. I actually got a lot more food than I ordered. Also, got to try some new items I had never tried before.

Tonight at Bob Evans the computer had gone down before we got there. That was the excuse for not even coming to take a drink order until 20 minutes after we got there. With the computer down the waitress had to figure our bill. It was $18.73 Since the computer was down the girl at the register had to figure our change with the calculator on her cell phone. Doesn't anyone teach math anymore??

I have heard many people complain about that place. We have some family friends that have something go wrong everytime they go there....but they keep going back for some reason.

I forgot that while on vacation my wife had ordered a rootbeer and I got a Coke. The server refilled our drinks and brought them back. Before she placed them in front of us, she put her nose right up to my wife's glass and sniffed to make sure it was the rootbeer. I don't know if I am just being picky, but it kinda grossed us out.

......ohio river restuarant....

........2 1/2 decades ago i worked constuction at a powerplant north of steubinville..my first morning there i stopped at a small restuarant on rt. 7 and sat at a table waiting for my boss....after 10 minutes the waitress asked if i wanted coffee..i said yes and she pointed to the large coffee maker and cups near a wall and said "there it is".....next she asked about breakfast and i ordered bacon and eggs...when it was ready she put the plate on the counter and said "come and get it,my leg hurts".....

.........i went there almost every work day for 3 years and loved the place and tipped the very independant women there....the service was a breath of fresh air and the food was not bad at all........yes,i like polite servers but women servers with truck drivers and construction workers must stand their ground........i know a small ohio restuarant above orrville where the ladies take no guff from folks either.....loved that joint too

Marie and Austinsm11,
Im sorry about your visit to Bob Evans. I appoligize. Our management team is Mike Swinford ( New General Manager) and Ron Marshall (Asst. General Manager) if you have any comments or concerns. I appoligize for the inconvience, but it was not that the computers were down. We had no power due to a power outage caused by a squirl getting into a electrical substation. The whole downtown was out for an hour and 15minutes. Again, I appoligize and invite you to visit us again. We are glad to hear our customers comments, concerns, ideas, and suggestions. You can contact us at 330-833-7200 or our corporate offices at 1-800-272-7675. For reference our store/unit number is #2047. I hope this helps and we look forward to seeing you again at Bob Evans Massillon.

The Massillon K.F.C. has the worst service i have ever seen. The last 3 times i have been there they messed up my order. 2 months ago they shorted me 3 pieces of chicken in my 16 bucket meal. and the kid taking my order wasnt sure if the sides were included with the meal. Last month i call in my order when i got off from work to make sure they wouldnt run out of dark meat. The lady over the phone said that they had plenty of dark meat and would have my order ready when i arrived. Well sure enough they ran out of dark meat and no one put my order together like they said they would. 2 weeks ago it took them a whole hour just to fill a 16 piece bucket. I needed 12 dark origional and 4 white with two of them being extra crispy. For some reason this was a challange for them. I herd one girl ask which one is dark and wich one is white when she was putting my order together. How can you not know what is dark meat and what is white meat. The manager finally came out and put my order together and refunded me my money.
Has anyone else had any problems with the service there lately. The manager informed me that she had just hired a bunch of new people and was still in the process of training them.

Don't remind me, bro. I MAY be online or in the chat room. Not sure what my social calendar is dictating at this point in time.
