Re Massillon Tiger Football schedule...
I have been explaining the Tiger football's playoff/State Champ situation over the past 30 years as "other high school teams are growing up, the high schools are getting larger, hiring good coaches, attracting good players (their familiesmove to the school's football program), etc...
But MAYBE I have been growling up the wrong tree...MAYBE it does have a lot to do with the league schedule issues...
So...What kind of League can Massillon Tiger Football get into?
It's been interesting to see them play ARIZONA, CANADA, and other unusual, teams from out of the area/state, as well as big football powerhouse teams...But now that I thnk of other possibilities....MAYBE there is something to the issue....
It seems important to GET to the playoffs.... Nice to play the BEST teams, and still get there, but if you don't get there....

That could be the most ludicrous post in the history of MP.com. HD are you KIDDING me? That meatgrinder would destroy us year in and year out.

show the fed some respect. mck is 9-0 and perry is 8-1. if we play them and beat them then talk. but as i see it we have not done that yet so lets just see how it all plays out.

show the fed some respect....
WHY? They (Jackson, Lake, GlenOak, Perry, Hoover, et al) are like the rest of the chicken-poop teams around this state and do NOT want to play us in the regular season. They'll take their shot in the playoffs if it happens.
Not only do the members of that league not want to play US, they don't want to play any non-league games against a "traditional" state power.
I'm really surprized that McKinley became a member of this league.
I salute teams like Buchtel that'll SACK UP, STRAP IT ON, and PLAY BALL.

Way to go Smitty, glad you feel that way. It seems that Cats44 has finally brainwashed many people on here. Sorry for this diversion, but since it was started, thought I'd add my two cents worth.
I keep trying to figure out why just making it to the playoffs is the end all. (except for McK who has made it past the regionals and 2 teams in the fed who have managed to make it to the regionals, what is so wonderful about JUST MAKING THE PLAYOFFS.
until the fed is willing to PLAY SOME TALENTED TEAMS AROUND THE STATE and then do something besides just MAKING THE PLAYOFFS, I don't want to be a part of the group.
NOW BACK TO THE IMPORTANT STUFF

Is "making the playoffs" a goal all it's own? It must be. Fans of some schools (Hoover is but one example) brag how they've made the playoffs "x" number of times... but haven't won chit.
Perry won the region once (2000) and Hoover once (1984). BFD. (Yea, I know Hoover & Lake have won their D-2 regions a couple times. Yippeee.)
For a league thats "so good",... I'm NOT impressed.
When they start to WIN THE REGIONAL TITLE on a regular basis (as the Tigers & Bulldogs generally do!) I'll change my tone.
