Yeah, it is a little early but I have not gotten to follow the team as much this year because of school. Now I am situated and ready for the big one next Saturday afternoon. A Tiger victory would be even more sweet for me as a co-worker is a grad from McKinley. This is going to be an interesting week at work.

Yeah, got my tickets about a month ago. Thank you though. Strangely at that time the only thing available was the end zone but now I see a couple people got tickets on the home side. Oh well, I least I will be there. My wife and I are heading up Friday morning after class.

Go Tigers!!! Boot the Bulldogs!!!!

It all comes down to which Tiger and which Bulldog teams show up on Saturday.

The Tigers have had a rough season where most things have not bounced their way. Lesson from this fact: We must take initiative and not wait for things to bounce our way! Take our game to the Puppies and lay out all this season's frustration on them!

The new season starts Saturday!!

amen to that, SLY. there is no wat i would take my 3-year old to this game and i think that is sad. i have seen too many crazy things happen in past games. even though the game is here this year, i don't think it (mck game only) is a good atmosphere for young children.

There is no question that this is the most dangerous game Massillon will play all season. There are five key matchups to watch for in the 115th between the warring rivals.

Matchup 1: Canton McKinley running back Morgan Williams vs. Massillon safety Brian Gamble and Massillon linebacker Andrew Dailey.

Matchup 2: Canton McKinley Dan Grimsley and offensive line vs. the Massillon crowd.

Matchup 3: Canton McKinley kicker Zack Campbell vs. Massillon kicker Steve Schott.

Matchup 4: Canton McKinley linebacker D.C. Alexander vs. Massillon quarterback Bobby Huth.

Matchup 5. Canton McKinley head coach Brian Cross vs. Massillon defensive coordinator Steve Kovacs.

These are some key matchups to watch for in my opinion from having seen the two teams play for most of the year. I think matchup 5 will have the most serious bearing out of all of these, given that Cross is also the offensive coordinator and once had Kovacs on the staff in 2003. Cross knows Kovacs inside and out, the same way Kovacs knows Cross inside and out.

Matchup 5 I think will have the biggest bearing on Saturday's result.

I agree with everything you said Keno except for 1 thing... Matchup 1 should say Canton Mckinley Runningback Morgan Williams vs. The Entire Massillon Defense.... He will be running everywhere on that field. If 1 player on the Tiger D doesnt play 110% its going to be a field day for McKinley... and we also need to watch that backup RB. i heard he was also EXCELLENT.

Steeltiger,

No one in Canton saw that playoff loss coming last year. I know this for sure. Sure they hit their peak in week 10 last year but it's more where you hit your peak on the season and Massillon hit theirs in week 13.

Everyone had Canton McKinley returning to the state title game but the team down Lincoln Way East didn't buy it.

And that will be in the back of the minds of the Bulldogs when they enter what will be a raucous crowd at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.

I just hope that McKinley takes us as lightly as they did in the playoff matchup last season. If they do, they could be in for another rude awakening.

True. That game will be sticking with the pups. Part of their problem last year was overconfidence. They thought they could just show up and whoop us and we took it to them. While I doubt that Cross will let that happen again, it is not unheard of for a 9-0 team to be overconfident against a team that is 5-4.

Pyromaniac,

I don't believe it was overconfidence. Canton McKinley didn't get off like they wanted to. Massillon just had the right looks in the second meeting that allowed them to build up a two-game winning streak in the Akron Rubber Bowl (they followed the next week with a win over the wisdom-led St. Edward Eagles, who are coached by John "Blue Ribbons" Gibbons).

Call it what you want, but to come out of the locker room and point and pose in front of our bench like they did leads one to believe that they were rather cocky about the whole thing and thought they had us intimidated. Once we came out and smacked them in the mouth a few times, they knew they were in a game against a different foe than the one they had walked over 3 weeks prior and were not prepared for it. They did not get off like they wanted to because we did not let them.

Beat (Who?) McKinley.

Don't you young folks worry about this game. McKinley is good. Very good. But this Massillon team is much better than our record would indicate.

We will win this thing. We will stop them cold in the first half. And we will simply outscore them in the second half. Look for the Tigers to take a two TD lead into the locker room at the half.

Massillon stuns the Pups of 2006, 35-17.

Thanks Longtime.

I know its seems a little strange, with an outsider wanting to follow and support the Tigers, but I can explain.

As stated, I grew up in Ironton Ohio and attended Rock Hill High School. I now live and work across the river in Ashland,KY (My heart is still in Ohio:)). I've always been a huge fan of Ohio High School football and I love to attend the State Championships every year.

I always knew of Massillons tradition and background, but it really sank in when I saw the movie "Go Tigers". I thought it was a great documentary and really painted the passion for high school football for the rest of the country. After that and all the trips to Stark County in the December kind of got me hooked. I found this board about two years ago on the net while trying to search for Massillon results from a previous game. This site has been great! Even though I live 4-5 hours from Massillon I can still keep up on the successes of the Tigers.

My alma mater (Rock Hill) is a small rural Div. IV school, with that being said, I see nothing wrong with supporting the Tigers too.

And one last thing,...... It would be a crime for the OHSAA to move the state championship games from the Stark County area! This area is the Birthplace of football, and you play the championships in the shadows of the Hall of Fame. To all those whinners that complain about the travel,....go find a crying towel! You can't get farther away from Stark county than Ironton, OH and we have never minded the trip up!

But anyway,...back to the topic at hand...

Keno, the most important matchup in this game IMO is our short side offensive tackle and whoever is lined up on his side. He has struggled all season to protect the qb and he better get r done this week or we are toast! Block, block then block some more. Slider, out!!!
