I laughed my head off after reading this article! If anyone has thrown caution to the wind and every attempted a similar family trip that involved extensive traveling in a vehicle, you can relate! And to you younger parents out there that haven't braved such a feat yet.....consider yourself warned:ohno:

Travel with family -- what was he thinking?
Saturday, July 29, 2006 By JOHN MARSHALL

Eight days, six towns, five states, 2,494 miles - all locked in a car with three kids.

What could we have possibly been thinking?

The idea was to follow the lead of family vacation hero Clark Griswold and take the family on a long road trip. There was no family truckster and no final destination like Wallyworld; we were going to jump from town to town in a Toyota Sienna and take in a few sights while I worked on a series about minor league teams in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Utah.

It probably wasn’t the best idea, considering the wife and I were accompanied by a 9-year-old instigator, a 7-year-old whiner with a gift for making irritating noises, and a 4-year-old who’s susceptible to demon possession...............

OMG.....That was hilarious. That trip is one , those kids will never forget ( and the parents , of course). Our family vacations are still the topic of conversations when everybody gets together. It's not really a vacation and until you travel across the country in a CAR. True vacationers, don't fly, , go by train, or bus. They go via a 1975 station wagon with no airconditioning and 8 people stuffed into it. Trust me, I had to do it atleast a dozen times. Being the youngest, I had to sit in the back seat of the family truckster station wagon. You know the seat that faces the opposite way. The one in which you NEVER see where you are going , only where you have been......LOL To this day, I blame that seat for my car sickness!! :tounge: You're right kamd....that was a great article...Thanks!!
