the tigers beat the A's with a 3 run hit in the bottom of the ninth, and two outs...sweeping them...and filling the first half of the world's series teams...
at least one tiger team did well tonight...
GO TIGERS!!!

may as well root for someone close to home...we are in the nw corner of ohio...half of the people here don't realize that they are in ohio...:jestera: and anyone that can beat the yankees...has my vote...

Heck yeah, she does. I personally gave that entire area to Michigan years ago when I was covering it from a sales perspective. It reminded me so much of that dump up north I figured they may as well have Toledo too.
shortbev, just for you we kept Findlay!!!

On the other end of the spectrum from the surprising Tigers, my friend. Now, call me from Michigan in February. BUT, call my cell. I'll be on the beach!!!!

No but I can call you from Ft. Myers but you don't answer your phone. Now there may be some days we'll be doing other things than being on the beach ..........

this is a true story from my american history class at the university of findlay a few years ago
...after the war of 1812, the British andAmericans were trying to settle boundaries and other issues...the British wanted Ohio, and the Americans said "no, but you can have Michigan"...now, i had forgotten for a brief moment that the teacher was born and raised in detroit...and i popped off with "yeah, and you noticed that they didn't take them up on it"...his comeback was "there goes your A"...didn't happen...i aced both semesters of his class... he loved me...even came to my graduation party a couple of years later...
i had a friend whose husband graduated from indiana university...we have teased back and forth about the buckeyes and the hoosiers...their daughter graduated from high school in 2005...i have known her since she was in the womb...so, she is like a daughter to me...as she headed off to college, in of all places, indiana weslyan (and this year she is going to IU and is on their cheerleading squad)...i told her i could probably tolerate her coming home with an indiana boy...but, under no circumstances could i take a boy from michigan...no matter what her parents said..."NO MIchigan boy!!!" so far, so good...
ps...thanks, carle for keeping findlay in ohio...i am a buckeye baby born and bred...just don't think i could survive as a michigander...

You have not lived 'til you've experienced life as a Michigander.
Just watched a highlight of Woody going for 2 back in '68. I had almost forgotten why I despised the old man so!:sour: Of course, it led to the great Michigan upset of the '69 Buckeyes.....

The Tigers win in a good game. And the focus now lies on what was on Kenny Rogers' hand. I'm laughing at ESPN as they're speculating whether it was dirt, pine tar, chew, etc. It's too late. The Cards never officially challenged. Let it go.

Could become a Sticky situation -- unless the Cards beat the Tar out of Tigers.

I'm glad the Cardinals won. It sucks watching the Pistons win and Tigers come close and the Cleveland teams doing nothing. If the Lions get to a Superbowl before the Browns, I give up.

Don't worry. It's probable neither one will ever make it! I'm glad I'm old enough to remember when the Browns won 10 championships in a row under PB and Otto. No matter how far down they were, you always expected them to win and almost always they did. Great memories.
