Well, I guess if you can't win one yourself you might as well try to jump on SOME bandwagon. What a reach.

There is no denying how many great coaches have come from Ohio.Miami of Ohio is also known as the Cradle of Coaches, due to all the prominent coaches that have gone thru that university.I think it is something all of Ohio`s football fans can be proud of.

#7 proud parent,

Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler went through the Miami of Ohio as coaches!

Oh, and also they also boasted the youngest QB to win a Super Bowl.

Go Steelers!

Well, the National Championship is back where it belongs. Where the best football is played: Florida.

You're right. Kind of like when they kicked Ohio State's ASS out in the desert of Arizona, right moron?

I agree, this game should have been played in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse NY in front of 5 less Florida fans! Much like OSU, Gator Nation travels pretty well to any venue for a big game. I love this and the "if they had to play a championship game in the cold, snow and ice it would be a different story" argument folks try to make every year at this time.
I guess you're trying to say that Utah had no chance against Alabama, an SEC team, playing in a SEC hot bed of college football, in front of a mostly Alabama crowd in the Sugar bowl, right?

Twbt, That's why Georgia Tech lost to LSU. They had to play in front of all those LSU fans! LOL

Now that's some funny chit! I think the fact that GT had to travel several blocks from their dorm rooms to the Georgia Dome for the game had alot to do with the way LSU dominated them also!

Isn't it strange that the last two BCS National Champs won the game in their home states of Louisiana and Florida.
Looks like they need to build a domed stadium in Ohio to host the BCS Champsionship game. :scratchchin:

At the risk of being called names, I'll state I also believe there is an advantage to teams from the south in bowl games because of their proximity to their fan base when the games are played. Especially when it comes to palying teams from the Big 10 and other non-southern teams. I am not saying it is the only reason for them winning but there is an avantage even if it is slight. If all things were equal (talent, coaching, desire) then a team that is from the area where the game is being played would have a slight advantage. This is also true when talking about the Rose bowl. A check mark would be placed in the "advantage" column for the Pac 10 for home team advantage when doing an analysis of the game. And again, talent, coaching and desire would be bigger factors in the out come of the game but "home filed advantage" would factor in. I also agree that the Pac 10 and SEC have had better talent recetly than the Big 10.

One of the major reasons you like to play a home game is because you have an advantage in being in the familiar confines of your home stadium. Granted, the bowl games are not in their home stadium but they have the familiarity of being close to home. It is similar to the Olympics. The athletes of the home country always perform better even though they don't necessarily compete in their home stadiums. They have an edge because they are in the familiar confines of their home country.

In the Georgia Tech LSU game the home field advantage went to Tech but the LSU talent and desire outweighed the home field advantage. In the Utah game I think desire won out over everything else. They had something to prove and that propelled them to a win. Plus they had a great game plan and the talent to pull it off.

Drbord,

I want to go back to the 1994 Orange Bowl. When Florida State (#2) played Nebraska (#1) in my favorite national championship game (Pre-BCS), do you feel that Nebraska was at a disadvantage because I fail to see that even though the game was played in Miami......

MUC

I know I watched that game but I remember little about it. I guess my memory is failing me. I did read a re-cap of the game. The re-cap said that Nebraska was 17 1/2 point underdogs. The game ended up 18-16 with FSU winning on a field goal with 21 seconds left. It was a wild finish but for the life of me I can't remember the end. It says that Nebraska then missed a 45 yarder with 1 second left. I was probably so excited I just passed out or something!

Again, I feel that FSU would have had a slight home field advantage but there are other factors as I mentioned before such as talent, coaching, desire and just plain luck that would also factor into the final result.

Home field advntage would not be the sole factor in who wins or loses.
