‘ol T-McD is renown for his supposed ‘Massillon Rules’, but it is interesting to note that he is 1-4 vs. the Owens/ Stacy combination. I have heard it rumored that the Brain Trust long ago analyzed (tape and interviews) how McDaniels approached games vs. the Tigers during the Currence and Maronto years to develop effective countermeasures against the mythical rules for beating the Tigers.

In fact, at booster club last meeting Monday night Coach was asked about the Massillon Rules and countering them. Tom clammed up quicker than a senator under deposition!

Is this all hot air or does Tom Stacy (and previously Lee Owens) hold the key for victory over McDaniles coached teams?

I am stirring the pot with this of course! I believe each game is played on it’s own merit. But this is one of those things that makes you go hummmmm.....

Go Tigers!

i think football has alot to do with coaching but when it comes down to game time the coaching calls i dont think matter that much its all the coaching from the past that makes the differrence(discipline). i think over the past few years that mcdaniels has beaten us his team either had a crap load of talent or they just wanted it more i dont think it was a matter of being outcoached.
sorry if that doesnt make sense

I believe Thom McDaniels is 16-7 lifetime against Massillon.

I think if you watched enough tape, you would see that many coaches have "tendencies" in certain situations. But ultimately the two main factors are talent and execution.

Do you know what is his record in the Mckinley vs Warren games?

According to what I could find, McDaniels is 4-1 versus McKinley while at Warren and he was 5-3 versus Warren while at McKinley.

McD fattened his record against the likes of Maronto, Rose and Shepas. He was 0-2 versus Currence and 1-3 vs. Owens

Warren1st made the comment that McD is 16-7 lifetime against Massillon and I am the one living in the far past? As Big Time put it, if you want recent past, he is 0-1.

Touche' bud. :)

I dont think anyone questions TM is a good coach w/ alot of experience. But a lucky bounce can sure go a long way between a great coach and outcoached. ie his lone title at Mckinley in 18 yrs. I also thought Shep basically outcoached TM a couple times too, if not for Super Mario and a couple ot losses, including our 4-6 team. No excuses. Just not ready to annoint the guy.

I don't think anyone on either side would bet their house on it. I sense another down to the wire nerve-racking experience.

.....yes he can coach....his ability to beat massillon and instilling the confidence to beat iggy were impressive......he makes many enemies with his very outspoken nature but it's w's that count..

No McD rules! He just studies opponents in and out! A team with constant film study and execution can conquer a team playing on talent! He studies coaches tendencies and players mistakes and weaknesses as well! A great coach is always going to well prepared for any team every week!!! Our players have to play mentally sound football and be very physical!!

I was correct. I wish my prediction of a Tigers victory had been.
