Tragic

That is tragic. Although not on the same level of stardom as Thurman Munson, this incident does remind you of that day.

I'm sure this incident caused a lot of stress for those in New York.

I remember when it happened to Munson too. This puts sports AT ANY level in perspective. Sad, sad day.

Once again it is an unfortunate incident, (especially when human lives are lost) that the talking heads on the news channels have beat-to-death (pun not intended) and have speculated as to the reasons for the crash. ...And their immediate call is to put more restrictions on General Aviation.

I wonder how "news worthy" this would have been if it would happened in a corn field in Kansas or if Joe Blow was flying the plane. How many times has an automobile, truck, or bus jumped the curb in a large city and killed or injured many people?

Those in the aviation world already know that the Cirrus airplanes do not have a good track record when it comes to mechanical problems and incidents. Plus the fact that a newly licensed pilot was in control, does not bode well for the situation.

Good point. From my understanding there are many pending lawsuits about the problems with Cirrus airplanes. One unfortunate accident should not dictate future regulation.

Excellent post. I suppose they will try to get more regs on private plane pilots now. Yes, the media beats it to death.

:attention: When I heard it was a Yankee in the plane I knew it wasn't Derek Jeter. He can't hit anything lately:attention:

A friend (Bob Cartwright) of the pilot (Tyler Stanger) that was supposed to be on the flight with Lidle and Stanger was killed in a plane crash in California on Tuesday!

If you believe in the theory that "you go when your numbers up", then he was obviously given a few more days to do something before the almighty came a calling.
