I'm sure that kid will really appreciate his parents naming him ESPN when he starts school and is teased and ridiculed on a daily basis. :doh2:

How many of you have named your child after something to do with our beloved Massillon Tigers or current or past coaches?

With some of the unusual names these days, I doubt if the kid will get made fun of. Most kids will probably think being named after ESPN is cool. I like it!

Kids make fun and tease other kids for lesser things other than their names. However, it does make you stop and question what their parents are thinking.

I know kids make fun of other kids for lesser things than their names, but why give a kid a name that you know might cause him problems later in life? I mean, can you see this kid going on a job interview at a place like a bank and having to explain his first name? Of course, he oculd always try to get a job in a sports-related field...lol

I agree that stuff like this makes you wonder what the parents were thinking. To me, it seems a little selfish that just because you like a certain TV channel that you would name your kid after it. I guess the kid can count himself lucky that his Dad wasn't a big fan of The Food Network or Home Shopping Network.

You could always say it is short for Edward, Samuel, Paul, NathanYeah, you could, but it would get tiring to have to explain all of that every time someone asked you what your name was.

i dont see what the big deal is. It's their kid, they have that right as parents. I for one have always loved names that are different. Just because you have a name that is different for a boy it doens't mean that he will be a crackhead or flunk out of school and just because you give a girl a different name that doesnt put her "on the pole" when she turns 18. I didn't read the article, but I do know that more than one person have named their kids this and they actually prounounce is like ESPIN, like Aspin, but with an E, not actually by the letters. I say good to the parents for not just blending in to society!
