Reports are circulating that Torre will be fired and replaced with Lou Pinella. The only thing that upsets me about this is I wanted the Indians to get Pinella. I love his fiery demeanor and passion for the game. Looouuuu can kick a few butts that need kicking.

Isn't it ironic that the infamous "Player to be named later", was Detroit pitcher Jeremy Bonderman. I thought I heard correctly that he was part of the deal that sent Jeff Weaver to New York.
Yankees had to lose! Great pitching by the Tigers! It will just be another year of not watching the World Series, and who cares who wins, for me.

Only one NY team might be in the Series, but it's not the Dark Side! With the Yankees OUT, I can actually watch the playoffs and the Series now.
Way to go Tigers!

Well, I think Detroit just hit the peak of their season. I like them to defeat Oakland and win the AL pennant.
I always wanted to say this...and being in Massillon, it's only proper I pull for the team that might not be forceful but they have leadership......the Tigers...the Detroit Tigers
GO TIGERS!
:gotigers: !!
P.S. Super Bowl winning running back Jerome Bettis is a Tigers fan too.

Just to digress a bit ... the Tigers had some pretty good pitching around 1968.
I'm pretty sure Joe Sparma had a couple years he pitched well around that time. Can't remember if they won World Series.

You can thank Pudge Rodriguez for this team going to the ALCS. Pudge came to the Tigers after their 119 lose season a few years back. After he came, the Tigers added more stars such as Magglio Ordonez. So give some credit to the man behind the dish for helping this organization become winners.

Yes, Sparma was on the '68 team.
Hey, I batted twice against Sparma in a Pirates' tryout in Canton. He fanned me on six pitches. Fastest balls I ever saw!!

I think they won the World Series in 1968. I won on a baseball pool. they were down 3 games to 1 and won 3 in a row. I think Bill Freeman was their catcher and he caught fire in the final 3 games.
