I was at the game and the JVs played good but as I was watching the game I noticed several opportunities for a couple of our players to really lay a couple of the St. Eds kids out. Not cheap shots either. One was on a pass thrown high on a crossing route and another, the one that really had me shaking my head, was on a peel back block during which the St. Eds players were fixated on our running back and a blocker had the opportunity to clean two, not one but two of their defenders............ and missed them both completely.

Sometimes hits like those make people start to "peek" and not play with the same wreckless abandon they played with initially. It also pumps us up.

I see that at the varsity level too.

One other observation, I see alot of kids tackling with their head on the wrong side which leads to arm tackling which leads to missed tackles. I know you are not supposed to lead with your head but it must be on the correct side to be effective.

Massillon head coach Brian Pachis was indeed pleased with the way his team responded on both ends of the ball. The team was again led by super sophomore Justin Turner, who carried 17 times for 87 yards and recorded two touchdowns, a 44-yard run and a 12-yard touchdown from Tim Adkins to put the game out of reach.

Adkins directed the last scoring drive that led to the deciding score.
