i wonder what the driver was to bring this up now?
i hope its not true.
one more thing, could this be the reason he had no interest in the massillon job? Maybe he thougth it might come up...........
the bad thing about these types of things is that true or false it will always hang over him........

Folks (both the individuals and the entities) in similar positions rarely reach settlements if they're NOT GUILTY. It's disgusting and it would have been pretty sad if this guy applied and was hired to replace Shepas!

Coach Whiting DOES NOT deny this terrible accusation. Wouldn't you scream to high heaven if you were falsely accused of this?
Here's his quote from the Akron Beacon Journal article:
...Reached by phone Friday, Whiting said of the Blade article, ``That's probably from something that happened 14 years ago. It's dead and gone. So, no comment.''
Asked whether he was aware of the state's investigation, Whiting said: ``It doesn't matter to me. They can do all they want. Don't call me again. No comment.''

I'm not going to cast judgement on a settlement from an allegation 14 years ago. However, in hindsight, I'm VERY happy he is not coaching here. We don't want the negative press and hired the right person for that job.

The Inde article:

(If link doesn't match try Inde archives)
Not really much new info there.

I'm not really sure why this is news at this point. If there's something of substance here, it will come out soon enough. If there isn't, this is a hell of an assualt on a man's reputation.

I agree! I think it's all about assault.

why would that be anymore worse than shepas. as i recall shepas was under investigation for the same thing but it was never made public "swept under the rug by his cronies on the BOE".
