At our website, http://www.massillontigerslair.com ,The Tigers Lair, I have created a Guestbook to submit your Get Well wishes to OrangeBlood, who is still recovering from a recent illness. It's right on the home page, so if you'd like, please go there and sign the Guestbook. Then, when he is finally able to get back online, it will be there for him to read.

Thanks everyone. I know it's a little late, but he still needs your thoughts and prayers.

God Bless

For some reason tonight the links on The Lair aren't working. At least not on my computer. Can you check it out and see if anything is wrong on your end?

Thanks.

I couldn't get the forums on there to work, so I'll just wish OrangeBlood well on this thread if that's OK.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, OB! I hope you're doing well.

Nothing that I have heard. GT1? Anything? I may call his wife tonight to find out how old boy is doing. If I hear anything, I will pass it on to everyone.

A friend of my moms who does OB's wife's hair told us that OB is still at Aultman, and that he will soon be going into a nursing home for a few months (I'm assuming for rehab). I was told that his muscles have been atrophying.

Keep the prayer chain going gang. Our OB needs it!

My god... poor guy. I may need to get my backup laptop fixed so I can loan it to him while he is recovering, so he can still follow his beloved tigers!

GT, get with me on the lair to let me know anything I missed.

Aside from the health issues, he's got to be going stir crazy not being able to follow his Tigers.

Also, I'll let you know about the lair.

I used to have Tom's phone number, but I cannot find it among my heap of life sprawled around my house. It happens to old folks, sometimes. I'm stuck down here in Florida, so I cannot go visit Tom or his family.

Look, OrangeBlood needs more than a nursing home. Don't kid yourselves, nursing homes are where they send you when they give up on you ever getting well. Get him the blazes off that sort of thinking! He needs high-level rehab.

There used to be a super rehab hospitial outside of Warren, Ohio, called HILLSIDE. They do wonders with people. They're very expensive. Like three times the cost of a normal hospitial stay. But, hey, I saw them bring people out of comas! Yes, they are THAT good.

Somebody, please, relay this information to Tom or to his familiy. Hillside. You tell them old TigerCarl of Jupiter, Florida mentioned the place. He will know who you mean. Tell him to look into Hillside Hospital. Or mention it to his wife, whom I've spoken to on the phone before. We've had some lengthy chats over long distance. They are a fine family.

I've lost contact with several old Tiger friends in recent years. But I truly care for Tom. You tell him that Carl and Ruth send their love. And tell him to fight his way back like a real Tiger! Don't you DARE give up!

Also, there is Doctor Dean Timmons in Akron. (If he's still there.) SUPER doctor, if you can get him. Super. If you get ahold of him, he may turn down your case. But it's worth a try.

You fight your way through this one, old Tiger. Fight!

Love,

TigerCarl and TigerRuth.

<For those who may not know, I don't think TigerTom has missed a Massillon football game since 1960. How loyal can you get?>

I can personally attest to that facility. I had a family member there recently and they work wonders. It's in Howland, just outside of Warren.

Has anyone from either of our sites actually tried to go and Visit Tom? I'm seeing updates on his condition from time to time, but I haven't seen anything hinting that any of us have gone to see him. Heck I'd go visit, but I really don't know Tom all that well. Who knows, maybe you guys that know him a little better have been in contact to know whether or not he can have visitors or even wants them.

TigerCarl,

While his condition may be serious, it's not necessarily true anymore that "nursing homes are where they send you when they give up on you ever getting well." I've had several relatives/friends over the past few years, as well as patients I've taken care of that really were sent to a nursing home to rehab and get better so they could go home later. A lot of times it has to do with the patient load of the hospital Rehab. facilities. If they have no room for someone because they are full up, they will send them to nursing homes for rehab. Heck I've even known folks who were sent to a nursing home facility just to get some rest before they were sent home because the medical staff knew they wouldn't get any once they got home. LOL

Most of the time, no usually all of the time, I take your opinions and surmisings as gospel because I know you have a lot of knowledge and would never steer us wrong......This is one rare time where I hope your opinion is as far from wrong as can be......Take care Carl!

I'm actually waiting on him to get into the nursing facility, and then I'll most likely go see him. I think I've been reluctant up to this point as a sign of respect for him and his family's privacy. Even now, I will call his wife or son and see if it'd be okay with them if I'd go see him.

I've known him for a few years. He sits in my section at PBTS. But I don't know him well enough to just drop in. I don't want to upset the family. If people were interested maybe a few of us could go together if the family says its OK.

I'll try and contact his family some time this week, and see if it would be okay to drop in on him.

Well, since none of you guys had any balls to make a phone call I called yesterday and talked to Mr. OrangeBlood. Tom is doing well, recuperating slowly but surely. We almost lost him three weeks ago and he is going to be in the nursing home for about 3 months. It's a slow recovery process, and will take time. Lord OrangeBlood himself actually called me yesterday afternoon while he and the Mrs. were having dinner together. He sounded great and in good spirits. I think he would like to hear from you guys, at least call the Mrs. and let them know that he is in our thoughts and prayers. If you guys need the number, IM me and I'll give it to you. Anyway, there's your update.
