I find it hard to belive that they would not show this game live. I would like to know where you heard this at? I guess, the only reason they would not show it live, and pardon me for sounding rash, but would be b/c, McKinley has not sold enough tickets for this game, and would like to sell out their allotment of tickets, so whbc tells everyone, Hey no live Massillon/McKinley game, thus it would boost ticket sales. I can see McKinley and whbc teaming up and scheaming something like this. Correct me if I am wrong, or sound rude for saying this.

I heard on WHBC sports news this morning that it will only be broadcast as a tape delay. They didn't say why or give any other details.

I can't remember when it wasn't broadcast live. Didn't they used to broadcast it on one of the Cleveland channels years ago?

I can remember back in the 60's the game being on Channel 5.

They aren't selling good in Massillon either, got 8 excellent tickets in Sec 2 up high. very close to section 3.

Besides the slow sales, the game was never signed for a live broadcast this year.

I heard the same thing too this morning on WHBC from Sam B. They didn't go into any details on it either. I thought it was weird.

So what if the game isnt live on T.V. Buy a ticket and go watch it live at the Stadium. It's more fun watching the Mckinley fans leave our stadium in tears then it is to watch it on T.V.:TIG2:

I see, because their contract as it reads is exclusive for the games they broadcast.

So Massillon cable won't have it on?

Massillon Cable TV has nothing to do with this game being broadcasted live. If there is a feed I'm sure they would broadcast it. But someone has to film the game live before MCTV or TWC could show it live. In the past that has been WHBC TV.

I think the exclusive part of the deal is only for the playoffs and the finals.

Why on earth is WHS-TV not doing it live?

If I remember correctly, the last regular season Massillon-McKinley game that was not broadcast on live TV was in 1962.

Wow,the canton media jumped off the bulldog bandwagon immediately after the loss to Hoover. What happened to TP's propaganda articles? He switched to NC promoting in his column last Sunday. No mention of Mckinley at all.
For the last 6 weeks they made it sound like Mckinley was an unstoppable machine.

does the school or the team get anything for the game being broadcast?any money ?maybe that s why. tired of letting it be televised and no money being given to the school.

WHBC Sam Bourquin(sp) said that it was do to cost. It sounded like not enough ad revenue. Has the Wall Street meltdown hit the Massillon/McKinley game!
I believe that it will be rebroadcast on tape delay. So, get your tickets and watch the Tigers WIN! and then watch the game at home.

Yes , that is correct it has to do about cost. Its not about ad revenues , its about the price they have to pay the home team for the rights.

Don't know of any national broadcast networks knocking on our door for the rights to this or any other of our games.

I can proudly say that I have NEVER watched a Massillon/ MuttKinley game on live TV so from a fan perpective I couldn't care less. To appreciate the nature of this Historic Rivalry you HAVE to be there.

GO TIGERS! POUND THE PUPS!

I am not sure about this and correct me if I am wrong. Didn't this happen to us a few years back when they stated this game was not going to be broadcasted live and then within days, for whatever reasons they changed their minds and it was than broadcasted live on TV?

Hey Tiger Fans...i just posted a new thread but wanted to let everyone know that the MaxPreps.com Road Tour team will be giving this game national coverage. Hopefully this will make up some for it not being televised. We will be showing the whole nation how awesome this rivalry game is.

Not enough advertising was purchased, pure and simple. Both cities struggling economically. First video re-broadcast will be 8pm.

The only sad thing that this game is not being broadcast live is the shut-ins and the older Tiger fans that have health issues and cannot for various reasons be able to go to the game and enjoy being there.

For some of them, this was a highlight of the football season to actually see it live on TV and enjoy it and actually let them think that they were seeing the game and all the excitment as it was going on and not knowing the out come of the game like they would know it when it is a re-play.

WHS telepro ALWAYS is tape delay, unless things have changed (I doubt that). Too much money involved. It is very expensive to be live for high school.

Everybody just buy your tickets and let's do our part and fill Paul Brown Tiger Stadium to capacity !!!

Not that I don't have any compassion for those that can't get out, but they can still listen via the radio or via the web and then watch it shortly afterwards.
