1972
Beginning of the second quarter.
McKinley had kicked a field goal in the first quarter, which put Massillon behind for the first time all year.
Massillon and McKinley had just traded interceptions.
It was 3d and 8 on the Tiger's 36 yard line.
Kevin Westover’s pass, thrown with a couple of Bulldogs close on his heels, went 34 yards.
End Greg Sullivan outran a McKinley defender at the Bulldogs’ 30, grabbed the ball and went in for the touchdown.
64 yard total gain.
It was a beautiful day, an exciting game, and one of the greatest Tiger third down conversions I ever witnessed.

Coming from two TDs down to score three and win in 1964. Greatest comeback in series history.
Doing it again in 1965.
Playoff upset win in 1980. After losing in week ten, the Tigers won at Fawcett the next week 14-6, in spite of the fact that the ball never left our end of the field the entire second half.
Playoff upset win in 2005. After perhaps the biggest embarrassment I have ever seen against McK, theTigers stomped them in the return match a few weeks later.
The 100th game....the most highly publicized meeting of the entire series.
The Snow Bowl with Offenbecher doing a flip to get into the endzone...Travis Mcguire...Willie Spencer doing a backflip with two guys on his back for a TD.
Heck, now that I think of it...every win weve ever had against them.

Certainly not the greatest memory but a memory. 01 playoffs. We score a td and line up for the xtra point. We get a penalty so they move us back 5 yards. Shep sends his offense back out and goes for 2, Zwick to Jordan, like its nothing.
Now I dont know if Shep was angry at the special teams unit, or making a statement, but watching the taped broadcast Ed Glass couldn't believe it, and said how demoralizing that had to be. We won handily.

The Chris Roth stiff arm.............although I think that was in a losing effort....

'74-Wood to Bell with six seconds left to knock McK out of playoffs.
'78-Offenbecher to Strawder (twice) in last six minutes to erase 10-0 McK lead, giving Tigers 13-10 win.
'88-O.T.win
'91-Travis romp
'94-100th game
'99-romp to end losing streak
'01-both games
'05-rematch at Rubber Bowl

1976- walking from the then south parking lot to the stadium for my FIRST Massillon/ McKinley game.
1980- I notice that Sid Louis has bow legs yet runs like a gazelle
1984- Chris Clax
1985- Chris Clax!
1988- Lamuel Flowers giving Massillon fan the bird after a play
1989- big win at the Drip
1991- Travis McGuire not being stopped, ever
1994- ‘nough said
1997- Best bulldog team of all times
1999- beating McKinley and remaining undefeated for the first time since 17 years!
2005- what the pups basically throw in the towel early in the 4th quarter at the Rubber Bowl.
Best memory EVER…..
2007- after the game taking the Victory Bell though the main hall in a dimly lit WHS to it’s roped off presentation area, putting it back, and clicking the rope claps back in place for another year!

My favorite memory would have to be in 2005... though in the regular season we got SPANKED 38 to 8... we turned around and beat them in the playoffs 21 to 3... it was SOOOOO good to watch all of their so called "fans" fleeing from the rubber bowl.. it was a good win for us!!...I'll never forget watching the bulldog players standing on the field STUNNED when Brian Gamble through that long pass to a WIDE open Zip Vanryzin.. haha they DEFINATELY didn't see it coming...
plus it was my senior year.. soooo of course it's going to be one of my favorites!! =) :gotigers:

Those games in '64 and '65 were incredible. Dave Sheegog was unbelievable. He did not start in '64 game, but put that team on his back and single handed, won that game. Then the next year he brought them back again from "the brink!" Two State Titles! Back to Back! And Earl was 20 and 0!
The 100th was also pretty special!:gogogo:

Manion's INT in the end zone to preserve win. 1980?
That was 1982, he still has the ball on his mantle.

1970 - Larry Harper returns the 2nd half kickoff in the mud for a TD????
I think that was the opening kickoff off the game, which was what made it so incredible, since he had missed the entire year due to injury!

'64 Massillon getting beat at the half. Tommy James takes the 2nd half kick-off to the house and starts Massillon's comeback. I THINK that was '64. I was young. Obviously all the ones named. '74 Wood to Bell to beat Roch Hontas and McKinley. The '77 blizzard game. The 100th game. All are GREAT memories. Yeah, even Manion intercepting the ball in the end zone is up there for me. I remember that one like it was yesterday.

McConnell picking off the pass at the 1 yard line to end McKinley's last ditch drive in 01 was pretty exciting as well.

O.K. thanks. I wasn't sure of the year on that one. That was the 1st Mck. game my parents let me go with my friends and sit in the student section. Was a hell of a finish!

Almost forgot that one. I got to coach Craig in Jr. High and was real proud of him for that. Great game!

That was '65 at Fawcett- the second straight year we were down 14-0 at half.
I don't think anything tops the '35, '64, '74, and '94 games for Tiger fans. I don't think anything tops the '34 game for Pups fans.
You were at the '34 and '35 games, weren't you, CarlE?

The 1989 game was a few days after my fathers funeral. It sure helped bring me out of a depression. I know Dad was smiling down from heaven that day. He loved the Tigers as much as I do. The weather was absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks macguy for bring that to my memory!

1994---100th game! Willie Spencer was a beast in that one!
1988---my Senior year! My teammates and I did not want to feel the same heartbreak that happened at the Drip my junior season. Beating the pups in the last game as a Tiger was very special. REFUSE TO LOSE---defenses win Championships.
1991--- I was in Germany listening to the game on the telephone( my bill was over $600). Worth every dime because my brother and his oline showed the pups how you prepare and execute in a big game!
2002?---the McCOnnel INT was huge!!
1983--- nice to see my cousin Craig Johnson run all over his friends in an 18-7 tiger victory!
2005#2---- I told everyone one that team they had to play better than the 1st meeting and they handled the pups at the Rubber Bowl

Marie we have something in common..Today is Oct 20 the day my father had a massive heart attack at PBTS watching the tigers and passed away and it was hard going to the games after that, but I did and yes 1989 was a sad year for me, but when it went to the MASS/MCK game I sat there cheering on the TIGERS and looking up at the sky and thinking my dad was the 12th man on the field. When the final second flashed on the scoreboard I looked up in the sky and said, "dad this one is for you!" I am sure he was celebrating!!

'05 - just 2 weeks after a bitter defeat, Coach Tom Stacy rallies the Tigers and dismantles the Pups, opening the door to the most successful playoff run in the modern (playoff) era.

100th game by far!!! There will never be any doubt from anyone on who won the 100th Game, nobody can forget that. Try it, ask the next person you see who won the 99th game, or the 65th or the 16th. Chances are they will not have a clue, but not the 100th!!
Go Tigers!!
