Well my Tiger friends, congratulations on the 30-7 victory at Mollenkopf Stadium. It was a perfect Fall evening to play a game in an electric atmosphere. I am glad to hear the Massillon fans enjoyed the visitor stands' renovations; the site of the New Warren Harding High School off to your left side, and seeing the old Harding High off to the right coming down. We were concerned about he parking situation, and possibly not enough room to house all the cars. I also saw Massillon players outside the visitor locker room before pre-game and half-time, so I hope over the off season that visitor locker room is renovated to accomodate large numbered teams.
With that being said, Massillon was clearly the better team that night. I thought Warren would have a small chance when we scored our only touchdown to bring the score 17-7 Massillon. When Mass. scored again to make it 24-7, that was it. Watching J.T. Turner run the last touchdown was icing on the cake. We have some serious questions to ask in Warren, there better be some answers over the next couple weeks, and over the offseason. Raider Nation likes to be in the playoffs facing teams we more-in-likely hardly ever see, plus play some familiar faces as well. Next year if the Raiders are going to mount any attack we'll have to go down to Tiger Stadium (Hostile Territory) to do it, and it is never easy!!! It is a testament to both public schools, their fans, and booster etc. that makes football atmospheres in Ohio so great, built upon great traditions, yet looking toward the future of what high school football will evolve into. There is no doubt high school football facilities are on par and surpassed some colleges around our country.
I was never more proud of Warren and its facilities than Saturday evening. Having friends from the Southern states constantly bragging about their high school football in Tennessee and Kentucky, for me to see them down there, I enjoyed the small atmospheres, but could not wait to get them up North. When they finally came to Ohio, to see Harding, their jaws hit the floor. Disbelief that the band does not sit with the crowd, also if there is a large enough crowd, even the visitor band will have bleachers set aside for them as well upon request. They thought our games against each other were more fierce than some small colleges going at it, they are correct in that assessment! We have to compete now with towns, people are moving to that never had their high schools in Division One, but now they are . There is so much to say about our towns, the good, the bad, but ever changing, and it does affect our football teams talent pool base from pee-wee football up to Varsity level. I could go on and on, but like Worm02 and others: Congratulations on the win, good luck the rest of the way, get into the playoffs and make a serious dent or run once your in the playoffs!!!:sunny:
