Join the booster club and attend the meetings, but at this point it is too late for this season. Do you expect the booster club to pay for them ?

Proud to say I am a new member of this years Booster Club.
The idea was as someone once mentioned to collect a $1 or two of Massillon Fans at the McKinley Game that would give plenty of time to have them ready for next season. Im thinking Bonnie's could do the work. Maybe even Studer Signs.

You don't need the booster club you need to contact the BOE first and get their ok and the ok to collect the money. You will never to collect several thousands of dollars.

I would like to see us worry about beating a few decent teams from time to time instead of constantly honoring ourselves for past accomplishments.

The Booster Club would collect, not I as an individual.

I dont see Ohio State taking down thier banners because they got spanked in a couple big games. On national media none the less. What we accomplished is something to be proud of. To not hang or replace them can be pretty much in agreement with those who call us "Paper Champs". Im proud of to be a Tiger Fan, Im proud of who we are, where we have come, and what we have accomplished. Im proud of each state title we won. I'd give anything to win another just as the rest of Tiger Nation. Till then lets win and be proud of our past. Go Tigers.

The banners are gone because they have been damaged by the elements and were removed.

As far as caring about replacements....with a finite number of dollars out there I would rather spend our resources on what moves the football (camps, clinics, equipment, etc). My most humble of opinions of course.

Good luck with your project!

I agree that money should be spent on useful things like football camps and coach's clinic's and equipment, but the banners represent the proud history of our football program and to see them hanging makes one proud. I really could care less what people say that the championship games are just paper...tell that to the football players that worked hard on the field to get those championships for the team and to the City of Massillon. I would think that with everything else that our program gets that some corporate office could help out with the funding to get these banners back up and flying. I know times are tuff right now so maybe that would be a thought for the near future. Get some kind of a drive started or something. I would rather see our banners back up than those cheesy advertisements from locals hanging up.

I have never understood what this means. What exactly are people referring to when they claim a championship was won "on paper"?

b/c there was no TOURNAMENT to play them in, and they were voted on by the media. So they say that we did not win them on the FIELD!!!!! Thus you have AP POLL CHAMPIONSHIPS. But, I feel sorry for all those people that think that, b/c each and every one of those dang games were played on the FIELD and won on the FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!

Our last championship was in 1971..we did not have playoffs, it was done by sports writer's votes across Ohio.

I thought it was because it was prior to Todd Porter working at the fish wrap. He would have never voted us Champs.

TP is just the latest in a long line of detractors in the print media.

BTW, our last title was in 1970, not '71. Interestingly, despite an 8-2 record, the '71 Tigers would have been Region 3's representative in the playoffs had they been held that year. 10-0 Warren Harding, who finished #1 in the polls after beating the Tigers 8-7 in a titanic struggle, would not have made the playoffs. (I think Parma Senior beat them out in their region in the "test run" of the computer). The following year, the 10-0 Tigers finished #1 again in region #3 and went down to Ohio Stadium and overconfidently lost 17-14 to Cincinnati Princeton...............

And things have never been the same since.

Sorry TigerVic...You are absolutely correct it was the 1970 Tigers, I guess when I was typing it I was thinking of 1971, because that was the year that the Seniors graduated.
