Obviously not.....even his own campaign manager is upset.
Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager, was asked Monday as he walked through the Xcel Center in St. Paul if he was satisfied with Palin's vetting. "I'm not gonna get into that," he said.

Home work?
He met with her at one of his 7 homes in Sedona Az. (nothing against having multiple homes, I just found it interesting that Mr "Judgement/Character answered the reporters question like he was with the IRS!) What the hell did people think he was going to do, meet with her at all 7?
Heck, McMaverick didn't even know she was on the "short-list" until the "powers that be" vetoed his main man Joe Lieberman the day before his selection was made public! LOL
Yeah....this is a verrrrrry strong ticket!
BTW! Palins hubby and oldest son have been told it's time to drop their life long independant status and register as republicans! Is this what the proud members of the republican party call "the government interfering with peoples rights" or, does that still just apply to the desires of democratic politicians?

The McCain campaign has been officially HIJACKED by Karl Rove. I guarantee it!

You know, I would be willing to bet the farm that even CarlE could have better vetted Sarah Palin then John McMaverick did!
I mean, at least CarlE not only owns a computer, but hell, he actually knows how to use it! These days you can find out virtually everything you could possibly need to know about someone, especially a public figure, on the internets (Dubya calls it that, and I love it)!
BTW! Lets all thank Al for inventing the internets!
See Bruddah, I can be "fair and balanced" too!

Well, it's about damn time!! LOL. NOW the Dems have something to worry about. Not saying I agree with it. Just saying if it has happened start worrying. This is just the start of things.
Which really isn't all that bad. This thing was going to be boring as hell with all the same back and forth rhetoric. Now there will be meat on the bones.

It's really a sad commentary on the American people that we've come to this - trying to destroy the life of a young girl who made a mistake.
I guess the days of talking about issues and policies are finished.
May God help us.

Wrong thread!
BTW! The BEST really is yet to come, and it's going to be the result of factions within the McMaverick campaign vetting this woman for the FIRST TIME in Alaska as we speak!
I love your passion and support for the party W1st, but you and I both know this was an absolute charade orchestrated by McMaverick, who has a terrible temper, in response to the republican party's leaders, and the "christian" right for nixing his choice of Joe Lieberman, and and second choice of Tom Ridge! FACT!
You wouldn't hire this woman to run your bakery based upon such thin vetting, and I'm positive you wouldn't pick her as a VP candidate if you were running for president based upon the same thin vetting! NOT 1 person in Alaskan politics was asked ANYTHING about Sarah Palin during this "vetting" process! Not ONE! And the McMaverick camp is saying "It's because it would have been difficult to keep her a secret and taken away from the surprise of her choice, which the campaign needed"!
REALLY! This is a man running on experience and judgemant, and he's more interested in "surprising" America, then properly vetting his VP choice?
GOD save us all!

At the least, Republicans close to the campaign said it was increasingly apparent that Ms Palin had been selected as Mr McCains running mate with more HASTE than McCain advisers intitally described.
With time running out-and as Mr McCain discarded two safer choices, Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Gov. Mitt Romney, as too predictable-he turned to Ms Palin. He had his first face-to-face meeting with her on thursday and offered her the job moments later.
"If you really want it to be a SURPRISE, the circle of people that you're going to allow to know about it is going to be small, and that's just the nature of it", said Dan Bartlett!
AND THIS IS THE KIND OF EXPERIENCE AND JUDGEMENT JOHN MCCAIN WANTS US TO BELIEVE IN! Not now, Not ever, Not McMaverick!

Growing up in Massillon, I always thought I was a Democrat. Once I got my education, got a job, got married, and supported a family, I realized I no longer fit what the Democratic Party represents.
True Republicans believe in maintining a true Republic. The sad fact is, we do not have any true Republicans in Washington anymore. Honestly, if you look at what the Democrats really stand for, there are no Democates in office either.
A true Republic is ruled by the people, for the people. Not a bunch of dopes that excelled in debate class in high school and only care about passing laws to restrict the people. Our federal government was put in place to protect us from outside forces and to grant us our freedom, not to tell me what I can do, how I can do it, or to take from the rich and give to the poor.
Palin is the closest I have seen to a true Republican in office in quite some time. She has no history in Washington politics. She runs one of the most republic minded states in the union, besides Texas, and this is why I think McCain picked here.

If I remember correctly, twbt, you were a STRONG McCain supporter years ago when you delighted in bashing Bush. What happened?
I suggest you people get ready for this: Do you know the difference between a Hockey Mom and a pit bull? Lipstick!" - Sarah Palin

You're ABSOLUTELY correct Warren1st! Unfortunately that John McCain is NOTHING like todays John McCain!
This McCain has flip-flopped more than John Kerry ever dreamed of , and his recent flip-flop was done strictly to pander to the faaaaar right wing, Rush Limbaugh loving, christian conservative branch of the party, one day after being told that his Maverick pick (Joe Lieberman) wasn't acceptable.
He claims to have the courage to take on folks that disagree with him and do what he feels is right for his country, and the American people, but when the going got tough he folded like a cheap suit!
The old McCain was always far more aligned with the moderate branch of the party and in line with the true Reagan democratic/Independent members of our society which is why I was calling for him to be the next President of the United States of America. I felt it was important for America to have a leader that didn't just say he was a "uniter", but would actually be a "uniter" unlike the Bush/Cheney team and do his best to change the way Washington operated. I felt it was important to have a leader who wasn't affraid to tell the "old establishment" to go "F" themselves if they didn't want to get on board with him. I felt it was time for all of America to have a leader who would not only listen to those appointed by him, but more importantly to implement their suggestions into his policy when it was obvious they were right, unlike the Bush/Cheney team! I felt he would actually stand for smaller government and drastically reduce the out of control spending that has so defined the Bush/Cheney team! And finally, I thought it was vitally important that the next President have a true understanding of exactly what our members of the military were facing in Iraq and Afghanistan, but then he started talking about being there 100 years, and reverted to the same old sabre rattling that Bush/Cheney used as their "foreign policy" during the past 7 years. His latest example of "Judgement" (the selection of Sarah Palin) makes me seriously question whether or not he's even remotely similar to the old McCain.
If you or anyone else truly believes this McCain is the right guy for the Republican party just look at the fact that until thursday of last week, this McCain was hell bent on choosing Joe Lieberman as his VP! Would you or anyone else defended that choice as vehemently as you are this one?
Couple that with the fact that as a result of the promissed implosion within the party, and the threat to have a war on the floor, he met with, and offered the job of VP to a woman he not only didn't know, but had just met!
Does that really sound like the kind of candidate anyone in the Republican party was hoping for when the primaries began? I suggest not!

As sad as this is to say TwbT after having read ALL of your posts I'll STILL take him over the alternative. Unless of course you plan on writing in a candidate in which case it's Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.

You know CarlE, if nothing else, this elections shows all of us Americans that there's a serious need for a new pool of candidates in both parties, and more importantly the need for a legitimate 3rd party.
Perhaps Barack Obama is the first in that pool! His historic nomination, his ability to slay the dragon, her husband and the "machine", and his ability to build a base of supporters as a black candidate (not playing the race card, just pointing out a fact) with the name Barack HUSSEIN Obama is one example of just how badly a large group of Americans is seeking a candidate that's "different".
Perhaps a Charlie Crist, Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal or even a Sarah Palin will be the candidate that another large group of Americans will rely on. But, I think it's very possible that we'll see a legitimate 3rd party with an entirely different political make-up surface in our lifetime, and it will be interesting to see how much appeal they'll have to those on the right and left.

why on God's green earth would anyone want to run for public office these days...if these postings are an example of how the american public choose to rip them apart...to examine every inch of their lives...to pass judgement on them before knowing all the facts...or even knowing that some things are just too personal for anyone outside the situation???
i have to give props to ANYONE who chooses to run for office...it is brutal!!! many of the quality people refuse to run simply because they refuse to put their families through the muckraking that goes on in today's politics...
and then, we whine because of the choices we are stuck with...seems like we are getting what we deserve...
at least with Sarah Palin, she is a refreshing choice to the same ole, same ole...

Exactly Bev, a refreshing choice! As is Barack Obama for millions of americans. You know what disgusts me more than anything I've seen or heard during this election?
I can't possibly count the number of people I've encountered professionally, socially and within my own family that have no problem hoping that Obama gets assassinated! I mean, WTF, they don't hate him because his names Barack HUSSEIN Obama, they don't hate him because he's been portrayed as a muslim by many, they don't even hate him and wish this upon him because of his political beliefs. They wish this on him because he's black! BLACK!
Is that where this country is stuck? It's freaking unbelievable to me! Worst than that, I know I'm not in the minority when hearing this. I'm positive many of you have too!
In my case, it's hypocrits that think Tiger Woods is the greatest human being waliking the earth, or LeBron James is a "King", or that Denzel Washington is the most handsome man in movies, and that many of the successful black football players are their "Heroes"! They cheer for these guys until they turn red and veigns pop out of their necks, then they wish death on a black man running for President!
Now that's a sad commentary on where this country is!

It may be a generational thing. I'm in my mid-20's and all I ever hear about from peers of both political persuasions is how they pray that he doesn't get assasinated. I don't think it was until the 1990's that even being a 'closed door racist' was still socially acceptable.
As for your earlier comment about a 3rd party - it is a pipe dream. Unless we change to a parliamentary system of government, we have about a 1/2000 chance of every having a viable 3rd party. Why - because the Reps and Dems will absorb the platform of any potential rival. The Dems absorbed the Progressive and Social Democrat parties of the early 1900's. You have to change the parties from the base, through active participation and primary voting. The ONLY way the Republican or Democratic parties will change is if they go on a serious losing streak and have to become more populist. The last 20 years are a good indicator. Think of the Democrats of Jimmy Carters time compared with the Dems of today, The Dems today are FAR more left/liberal than they were then because of loses to Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2.

It has happened for years and years, and will continue to happen for many more. These people know what thay are getting themselves into when they go into politics.....especially if they have aspirations of a higher office.

I also give them props. I admit, I wouldn't be able to do it. Especially if I had younger children.
