Was that the REAL Iggy team last night ??
No cheap hits on the QB,
No INTENTIONAL head bashings
No intentional facemask pulls
No ankle twisting on the bottom of the pile
Helping guys up after the play
No trash talking, (that I saw)
No showboating
Could this be an attempt by Iggy to hop a seat on the Massillon "polish your image" World Tour??
They are in the same boat as us , as far as scheduling goes. So maybe like us, they are trying to improve their image, and the way that they are perceived.
I sat in different seats last night. I was on the ailse between sec14 & 15. All the Iggy fans were very nice and respectful!!!
And I so wanted to hate them when I arrived !! I guess it wasn't meant to be !:doh2:
Sometimes when you experience a few seasons of adversity, the arrogance will be replaced by a period of humility. Maybe :scratchchin:

The radio broadcast had a new tone, talking about the great Massillon tradition, a very professional broadcast. Gone was the over the top color man. I also thought it was an attempt to polish their image.

I will agree in recent years Iggy has been somewhat obnoxious and at times dirty. But I remember Iggy way back when being like they were last night. Very poised and courteous. I was always impressed with how they carried themselves. Until last year however when I remember one of their players doing a WWE move on one of our players on the sidelines.

What "image"? Ignatius is not very well liked by a lot of schools, but not many call us a dirty team. I think last year's game was the exception. Most Ignatius v Massillon contests have been clean, hard-hitting affairs on both sides.
That list at the start of your post sounds like fiction to me.

Well, I guess I am going to be the dirty dog to bring this up then----because I found their student section to be obnoxious. The "why so quiet" chants several times during the game and several other organized chants over there really got under my skin. And yelling about their winning "in our home." Well, we won in their home and I don't remember that kind of catcall going on last year. Those kids were obnoxious. So the team may have been wonderful, courteous, poised, etc., etc., but their student fans left a lot to be desired. Sorry, but that's the way I saw it.

I was kinda thinking the same thing H8r. Last year, with the game being so intense, things got really edgy. This year, I thought Ignatius played an exceptionally clean game. I saw Merletti many times help a Massillon player up and give him a pat on the helmet. Say what you will about Ignatius, but their kids always play hard and execute phenomenally well. And this year, without the help of many superstar players, they are really playing as a team. I don't know if I should say this...but I actually enjoyed watching them play. It just sucked to lose to them.

This new image is all part of what I call the Tressel factor. Jim Tressel carries himself and his team with dignity, he respects his opponents and is a intelligent coach and leader. His teams follow suit. If you notice nationally many coaches and players are following this trend. I believe St. Ignatius is doing the same as are our own Massillon tigers.

I do agree with you on most points.
Last year, WE were the one's getting called dirty on cleveland.com after Brian Gamble's CLEAN hit on your ND recruit.
