Last night I was covering the Lake-A.B. Lucas football game at the new Alumni Field at Lake Blue Streak Stadium and I had the pleasure of meeting three Lake mothers that came all the way up from Indianapolis, Indiana to see last night's game won by the Blue Streaks! That to me is devotion!!

I can't help but think about just how much mothers have a hand in football. Also, there were others I met that were assistant coaches on midget league football teams!

One of the mothers gave me a funny razzing about the Colts hammering my Steelers 26-7 and referred to them as "nonsense" after the Steelers complained about the Colts jacking the sound in the RCA Dome back in 2005 after Peyton Manning hit them with an 80-yard TD pass to Marvin Harrison on the game's first play (the Steelers had five false starts and two delay of game penalties in the loss which personnel blamed on the enhanced noise)...it put a laugh on my face when she said they were "nonsense."

But back to where I am at, the devotion of these mothers along with others I met last night makes me have an appreciation for them and how much they mean to their football teams and the sport as well. And that's not just in Lake but all schools as well.

All mothers no matter their allegiance are to be commended for everything they do not just for their sons but their respective programs as well!
