MASSILLON TIGER fans... I need to ask a question...

Why is it that we cheer loud and proud for the Hamilton game and the Mentor game BUT when it comes to the IGGY game it was not so loud? I understand we were losing but I must say, more effort on the fans LOUDNESS is NEEDED too. I know I myself was loud, I sat in the student section but I also know that the student section wasnt even as happening last night.

Think back to the Ed's game last year and the 2nd McKinley game! BUT YOU KNOW WHAT.... we did this at the St.X game we were quiet!!! Unacceptable. I talked to a village idiot I said "why were u so quiet?" you know his answer? "because we were losing" DID OUR BOYS STOP because we were losing? "NO!" so y should we? we all stay quiet when when it is seemingly a big gme (as is iggy and X last year were) if we are losing. I put an acception to this last week. WE CHEERED it Up the WHOLE game!!!

Lets not go to games and sit quetly until they score ... lets lose our voices cheering on OUR TIGERS!

LETS GO FANS!!

GOOO TTTIIGGEERRSS!!!!!!!!!

What I thought is someone from Massillon should have the job to run with a flag around the side we are on to motivate the fans; not just when we score but throughout certain points of the game. Heck I volunteer myself if I would be allowed...

I thought the same thing about the St. X game last year and was nearly run off this site. We had so many fans and waited so long to get back and I thought the place was not nearly loud enough - especially to drown out those punks from St. X.

I have never understood that part about us Massillon fans - we travel to the ends of the earth in big large numbers and many times are not very loud - just sitting there watching the game.

We need to encourage the players all the time - winning or losing.

well I love you guys!! you are all amazing for seeing it too. I can't even talk this morning because i lost my voice last night... and Im having a hard time trying to tell my dad about this post but my voice keeps going out... im so EXCITED that I'm not the only fan who is seeing this reoccuring proble. I may even seem like I'm yelling in all caps im just so excited to get people pumped up 6 days before the game.

Not by me.
I was in total agreement with you last year.
The Massillon fans didn't do squat at making noise at the St. X game.

And last night I had the same feelings.

The fans say the team didn't show up.

I say that - from the first kick-off - last night, the fans didn't show up either.

thats it I'm replying after everyone of you!! You all know what... I honestly thought i was the only person who felt this way. EVERYONE reading this step it up two or three notches to be loud at the next four games. I'm gonna lose my voice at everyone from here on out!

From my vantage point in the west press box, I actually have to slightly disagree.

Not that the fans weren't silent after the 14-3 lead, but on this point...

They were MUCH louder than in the past. After that TD in the past, normally I could have dropped a pin and heard it. This time I actually heard some people applauding and trying to urge the offense on as they took the field.

They're getting the idea... just VERY SLOWLY. The more of us that keep on going with POSITIVE CHEERS (not the guy Obiefan mentioned in another post screaming "get your heads out of your @$$e$") the more other people will be inclined to do the same.

Unfortunately for me, unless it's an away game, I don't get to cheer

So the rest of you need to pick me up!

All I can say is that my wife and I cheered and yelled for our Tigers. But while you are yelling your head off for the D for a couple of good stops, and then while you're yelling a 400 yard run through a gaping hole, not once but a few times, it became harder to get that intensity over and over. The cheering was still there, only a little softer. The same way with the O. It got to the point that we weren't cheering as loud, watching through our fingers hoping that something good will happen. But the only thing that happened was no. 22. I'll cheer and yell until I lose my voice, but hey, I'm only human. So, next game I'll be there, getting loud. :gotigers:

If you remember correctly, the Idiots of the past did run up and down the sidelines with flags trying to get people's enthusiasm up, and they did a good job of it. Everyone would start cheering when they ran by each section. This is one thing that I am very disappointed in as far as Stacy goes. He is the one that pretty much took them out of the picture. They are basically "confined to the student section now.

I think it would be nice if the band sat with the students like they used to do. I think it would make the cheering a whole lot louder. The cheerleaders would also be in front. Other teams always have the band cheerleaders and students together.

I agree. Maybe then they could be in sync with one another and cheer together instead of having 2 or 3 different chants/songs going on at the same time.

In my opinion the team not only lost the game last night, but we the fans lost the game. We totally dropped the ball. It bothers me to think if we would have been a louder at last years title game we would be defending State Champions right now. This week and the next four or more we have to BRING IT!!!! MAKE SOME NOISE! Go Tigers!

It' supposed to be a "quid pro quo" type of deal. We get the team jacked up, and in turn they respond with a big play that jacks the fans up.

This series of events is supposed to be like a tennis volley, until we erupt in a game ending celebration.

The fans have been WAY more than holding up their end this year !!:gogogo:

Dawgh8er im supprised. actually 95% of the time i agree with your posts... but I gotta say I think the fans were weak last night. I will admit we rocked at the mentor game and didnt get much in return but I BELIEVE every game should SOUND like a PLAYOFF game on our part!!!! :gogogo: BE LOUD!

We rocked Moeller
We rocked Hamilton
We rocked Mentor

We didn't lose to Iggy because of the crowd. I admit the crowd was weak. However, they can't be the only ones to always bring their 'A' game !!

The team must make plays to excite the crowd. The street runs both ways !!:gogogo:

I have to agree that the fans just seem to not be as excited as they were. The first 5 minutes of the first quarter fans were yelling shouting excited to be at the game. Then mementum was lost. Personally I yell so much I cannot speak by the end of the game. I just wanted to get out of my seat and say...... Whats going on ? Are we not still the Massillon Tigers ? winning or lossing we love to sit in Massillon Tiger Stadium cheer our Tigers on !!! I am really thinking about getting a pair of those shoes with the pop out roller skates on the bottom I seen a little girl weraing at last nights game . Rolling back and forth and screeming T-I-G Hopefully to be followed by a E-R-S:rock:

You know I hear what you are saying and to some extent I agree, but instead of the players turning to us and raising their hands to get us fired up they need to turn to themselves to get fired up. You look on the sidelines and you see zero enthusiasm and no fire. It is almost shocking. I guess the seniors that graduated last year were the spark plugs on the team, because this team doesnt have it.

It is up to the players to get fired and up and make plays not the fans. The fans are merely a mirror of what is happening on the field. We were cheering so loudly during the Hamilton game because they were taking it to them and they were making big plays and key stops.

How do you cheer for a dropped pass with nobody around? How do you cheer for special teams kick off return running into each other and giving up the ball - again? How do you cheer for our QB throwing the ball right into a defenders hands and how do you cheer for a a Tiger defense in the 3-4 on the goal line and ah guess what giving up a score? I am not bashing the players I am mereley asking you what is the perfect cheer in that situation? Do we cheer in unison "Thats oookkkayyy , pull your head out of your a@#@s!, You are stiiilll worthy! ??

I havent seen any fan base cheering when they are down by 3 TD,s in high school, college or pro. It just doesn't happen. That is probaably why that cheer "Why so quiiiieett?" Works so well for the other team because it gets you right where it hurts.

We in the fans cant win the game by cheering, believe me I have tried. it doenst work. You just wake up with a sore throat and an empty feeling in your stomach.

Take a good look at our fans in the stands. Especially in sections 4 and 5. What do you think the average age is? Do you see them as ones to jump and down and run around with flags along the sidelines???

We need to ecourage the students to come out in force and cheer like the other students on the other side.

[QUOTE=DAWGH8R]The fans have been WAY more than holding up their end this year QUOTE]

I strongly disagree. Now, maybe for 2 games, the crowd was alright, but we definantly didn't rock Moeller, and there was no chance that we rocked Iggy. In both those games, the entire time, we were d*mn near silent. Now, with the statement that it goes both ways and they're supposed to return the favor, well, we were still in the Iggy game only down 14-9 and then, 21-9. Also, in the Moeller game, we were down 2 touchdowns, but we had the ball at one point and a chance to comeback. All I remember is silence. It also doesn't help that our student section absolutely sucks and creates 0 noise, but the feeling just being at the games and in the atmosphere does not compare to last year. Not to mention two of the games we were the quietest at were Moeller and Ignatius, 2 teams that have been whoopin our butts for years. I know this isn't last year's team, but it seems like everyone believes we should win games just because we were successful last year. God, I hope I'm not having flashbacks of '03.

Please let me share something that has been bothering me since Friday night. This year we have new people sitting next to us....from the kick-off to the final seconds of the game.....this person next to me had NOTHING positive to say about the Tigers and absolutely no cheering at all. I am not one to voice an opinion of the behavior of others around me, I choose to CHEER no matter what, but Friday night by the 4th quarter I had had enough. After spending most of the evening trying to get this person to have some positive energy toward the game , I very loudly voiced my opinion to by telling this person that this attitude was driving me crazy. Everyone around me heard it and by my guess, agreed with me. My words were to no avail because at the end of the game this person responded to me by saying...See what your positive energy gets you?!!!
I have been going to Tiger football games for 44 years( I sat on my Dad's knee when I was 3), I drive in from out of town to see our Tigers play and I come with a positive attitude.......the boys and and coaching staff can feel the energy....neg and pos. I'm sure of it....I saw the positive energy...no...FELT the positive energy at the Arizona game and they felt it too. Anyway, to all the TIGERS, coaches and fans, I am sending all the POSITIVE ENERGY that I can muster. I'll be at the game ,CHEERING MY HEAD OFF,,,,,,,,WILL YOU? I LOVE THE TIGERS!!!!!! GO TIGERS! TOO many people are making excuses to not be loud rather then just shutting up and being a fan. If you came onto this thread and said "oh its not our job to score the points..blah blah.." or "The team just didnt show up" or "they need to get their heads out of the @$$es" then you are doing exactly what you shouldnt be doing. I think us fans need to create a playoff atmosphere. To be honest the only game where I thought the crowd was really into it was Hamilton.

During the Mentor game most fans in our area were complaining about people standing and cheering. They just wanted to watch the game. All that being said...

The teams successes on the field have a way of getting the crowd into it. Nothing gets a Massillon crowd going like TOUCHDOWNS!

If pulling that MASSILLON jersey over your head on a friday night, doesn't jack you to cloud nine, and you need some fans to "pump you up" , you are either playing the WRONG sport, or have enrolled at the WRONG school.

If no fans showed up for the games, would we NEVER win ?? If we had beat Iggy, this would be a non issue.

I'm all for being a GREAT fan, and cheering with the best of them, but if our excuses have made it so far down the list that the fans are responsible..............what's next ????

Effort has made Massillon what Massillon is, The hotbed of High School football. We've won many, many titles with inferior talent. Desire and effort is what's always set us apart from everyone else. That Tiger spirit(attitude) brought us along way, including last year! Massillon Football is known for over-achieving, and when our fans see our effort on the field as less than 100%
they become VERY disgusted!!

I promise you that if every starter "sold out" every single game...Our fans(most) would graciously accept a loss!

The key question.......Is each player giving it their all(some are)?

Go Tigers! Massillon Always!

Now that was the post of the week for me! You said exactly what i was feeling!! I waited a long time to be on the field at PBTS! My junior year against Garfield I was in the locker room with the bubble guts-- and i felt a hand on my shoulder and it was Chris Spielman!! He said "monte its time to go out there and play like a tiger-- its the big time now"! I already knew about playing for the tigers- chris was in his 2nd year in the NFL and he was telling me Im in the Big Time!!! i accepted the pressure when i dressed and put on the uniform and you must perform the Massillon way or take the heat. Its always been that way and why change it now-- step up and go get what you want!! it will always be pressure playing for Massillon if the players cant step up then maybe they should transfer to fairless or tuslaw!! Fans dont win or lose a game and if our players need me to lose my mind and voice for a win i will but i been horse for 2 weeks!!! that proves that we make no differance!! Big time players block out the crowd non sense anyway!!

Again I ask, "What kind of cheer do you cheer when you are down by a few TD's? or when you see another broken play that shoots us in the foot?" Sure I will rise to my feet when Huth lets it sail and probably make a moaning noise while clapping then I will go ohhhhhhh when it is dropped. Then I will clap for a second. Beyond that what do you do? We dont have any fancy cheers like the Catholic schools have. And if you are down and you see nothing but despair on the field what is there to cheer about? I dont remember while I was playing hearing the crowd while I was in play. I wish we could see the players getting pumped up, that would be nice. I see no enthusiasm on the sidelines or on the field about 70% of the time. It looks like a certain points that they are phoning it in. It is heart breaking. Give me somethig to cheer for, I would prefer that to moaning anyday.
