What Went Wrong? Gamble Had A Bright Future Ahead Of Him,maybe Even The Nfl.

With all due respect to Sting, some of us KNEW there was more to the story than she was saying. What happened? The same thing that happened to most of our D-I recruits (Relford, Torrence, Gamble).

COME ON BRIAN. Get back in the game of life. You have done too much to quit now. I would think the help you need is available. GET IT. Get back in school. Finish this thing.

That's very unfortunate. I kinda hoped when Brian finally got out of town and away from the drama of his girlfriend he would've had a chance to get a degree and make some better decisions. There are not many 3rd chances in life.

I'm told Brian will transfer to Bowling Green and play there (after he sits out the NCAA-mandated year for going from one D-I program to another).

This is a shame. He probably played the hardest football in Massillon in the last 25 years. God gave him so much talent and I hope he can straighten this out. Sounds like he could use a good mentor.

Unfortunatley I'm sure it won't be the last. Too many times just because they are a "stud" athlete, they are tolerated more by the coaches and schools more than the average student. When they get to college, the coaches are less likely to codel them, and there is someone waiting for their opportunity when they do mess up.

It is indeed a shame the position Brian has caused and finds himself in now. My prayers and wishes are that he is able to learn and grow from here on out and be able to deal with things as they are now and to make them better concerning his future. Which is far more important now that he has a child to be legally and morally responsible for.
I hope he does get the opportunity for a new beginning at BG or someplace else and show all you critics that he has not screwed up his life. He was not and is not anywhere near the type of young man that some of you are so irresponsibly comparing him to.
Thank the Good Lord above, that we have such an astute, prestigious and moral group of posters here on this board who have never made any mistakes when they were young, never gave into temptation and then sweated bullets until they got the word that the girl wasn't pregnant, and always made the right decisions in life.
Heck, I bet there's plenty of personal dirt we could spread on here about each other to carry us for years without ever having to mention any of our easily targeted youth. I am sure that there must be a few of you who have drama in your lives with your marriages, girlfriends, children, jobs, neighbors,.............let's put all of your own personal business on here as well.

I think everybody is just disappointed with another golden opportunity potentially not transpiring. It does sound like some of you on here know this young man. Talk to him. All is not lost yet. And yeah, the kid is 19, OK? Let's take that into consideration.

Believe me I try as hard as I can to keep these kids in line. Brian spent Memorial day, 4th of July, etc,... this year at my house in Columbus and I didnt see it coming. However, I knew of a few problems and a transfer was possible in the Spring.
One thing---last 25 years?? That would say a heck of alot DE#53 saying we had Chris Spielman, Jerome Myricks, etc,.... who never missed a play on either side of the ball. Jerome started both ways for 3 years bro in 3 sports for the Tigers! You played with Myricks and you know that he was a silent assaisan--no talk just production!
All that said, I have faith that BG will get back in college and be a factor for a DI program. Sometimes a change in schools is good for a young player, I thought he should not have went to Illinois from the beginning. Zook is a great recruiter but lets players get away with too much BS---Brian needs a coach who has ZERO tolerance!! I am truely sad at the outcome right now but I know BG wants to lay for a team that allows him to play safety not offense.
BG---if you read this, take care of your kid, get back in school, CALL ME, and you always can go play for the BUCKS with your best friend!!!!!

Yeah Spielman and Myricks were studs. I think BG was right there with them . Heard he was supposed to be going to anger management classes and didn't go.???? Maybe if he could go to a school close to home where people that care about him could "sit on him" and watch out for his best interest it could workout for him. It's hard when your only 19 and away from home.

BG has a certain mental toughness that wont let him leave the situation the way it stands today! The kid will bounce back for sure.

Yes sir Jerome was and still is my favorite player of all time..... Brian is a good kid. Sometime change is a good thing. Leave his Girlfriend, his attitude and his personal life out of it. Lets support the young man, father and Tiger.. Best of luck to you B.G. and Congrats... Go Tigers Beat Parma

Tough to leave his personal life 'out of it', when it's what got him 'in it'. There were loud sirens going off when BG was at Massillon, and apparently they followed him to Illinois.
Hopefully, he'll get a second chance. But if he doesn't start making better choices, he'll get the same results.

Jerome lives in Canton. He is doing well. Working the 40 hr. grind like the rest of us. One of the most laid back dudes I know. He definitely was one of the smoothest runners I've ever seen at the high school level.

Jerome was like a gazelle when he ran.
I seem to remember 2 outstanding games against Cleveland St. Joe and
Desmond Howard, Jerome was the better player IMHO.
I only wished he would have stayed in school longer than one week.

I just ran into him at a gathering a couple of months ago, but didn't get to talk to him much. He's still around here.

Jerome lives in Canton and is a supervisor for a landscaping co. just didn't really see at the time how great he could of been on the field. However, like Tiger1 stated---laid back, doesn't get into trouble, and is a real good friend. Never said a word in the huddle but just looked at you with a stare that made you know he was always ready!!
I love BG as a person and player and he will bounce back. He will not let this be in end of his football and school day for sure! Word is he will be returning to Illinois in January and I hope he makes it work

I'm sure he (Gamble) is very disappointed and will be eager to try anew. Having only seen him play a few games, I was highly impressed with his abilities and toughness. I am hopeful that he does get another opportunity to play again and moreover to finish his education. Sometimes the shock of denial (being expelled) can help develop maturity. I can speak from experience here. Good luck and Gods.Speed to Brian Gamble
