sidelinewalker and SternRulz,

I was at this summer's car show and do you know how many times I heard that song "we don't give a ---- for the whole state of Michigan, we're from Ohio?" Too much I think.

You all just don't get enough, do you? That was SO out of whack just hearing that dog gone song. I swear more than anything (there should have been a Michigan car at the car show)......

MUC - I was talking to a good friend last night who is a Michigan Law School grad and he mentioned that people who are normally kind and good-natured just become ugly when it comes to OSU Football. It's a very odd phenomenon. Honestly, I don't understand the hatred toward UM.

Warren1st,

I don't mind being the hated adversary...it makes discussions on here all the more tantalizing.

Whether it be Kamd50 yelling at me, MTown torching me, longtimefirsttime lashing me, or whatever...it makes discussions very lively when it comes to UM/OSU.

You went through it in 2002 as a fan of the #1 Warren Harding High School Raiders and as a fan of the Wolverines. I go through it being a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Wolverines.

I will be watching Michigan-Utah Saturday afternoon. GO MAIZE AND BLUE!

P.S. I can tell you this. As much as I have been yelled, torched, or lashed out at, etc., I never have a reason to snap back or yell at my tormentors ! And when I do get the above treatment, I take the advice of my mother and "have a good time!"

You just continue to make my point about Buckeye football fans............Let me ask you just one question: Why??? Did you learn this from your friends? Was it was because UM went 10-2-1 before Tressel? Is it because of Michigan's academic superiority? Is there a slight inferiority complex? I'm not trying to be a smart a$$. I'd really like to know.

You live in OHIO and are on a pro-Ohio website. What kind of responses do you think your going to get? O.K. you want answers why right?

For the same reasons young boys who grow up in Massillon and want to be a Tiger some day. They hate Mck. When we were young and if Massillon lost to McK it was like the world was going to end. I remember leaving the 81' game at the Spigot and crying and telling my dad that when I got my chance to play in "the game" we would never loose. And in 1988 we didn't. There weren't many days that went by between 81' and 88' that I didn't think about that. You actually live for that day. It's part of your life. You hear the stories of all the past games and it builds and builds. Anyway I'm getting off the subject. It's personal I guess. That's how I look at the game of football. That's how I was coached to approach the game. The man over you is trying to BEAT you. 11 players with individual battles every play and the sense of urgency on every snap. That's how you treat your rival. Now with Michigan you multiply that by 1,000! In the movie Patton he says "the very thought of loosing is hateful". That's what the two greatest rivalries are about.

I want to beat my rival as much as anybody does. I want to beat OSU with every fiber of my body; however, I don't hate anybody. I kinda suspect Woody has had a lot to do with this anti-Michigan feeling. Further, If UM didn't kick your butts so many times, you wouldn't have such strong feelings toward them! Right?

Warren1st,

Warren Harding was disliked primarily by one school...Lakewood St. Edward going back to an incident that should have never happened. From then on, the two schools haven't played each other since a playoff game several years ago.

People fail to realize though from a stretch in 2001-2004, Warren Harding had the best fans and team in Northeast Ohio along with the #1 toughest stadium...Mollenkopf Stadium.

I don't know about the "so many times" part. The thing that always bothered me was Ohio kids going up north and beating the Bucks. Your right about woody. Ever read his books? Some crazy stories about how felt about "that school up north". Check out the Dead Schembechlers website sometime.

So the fans are the best only when they are winning? Get ready here comes to band wagon!

A lot of Massillon folks have no love lost for Warren too. I had the misfortune of playing against them in 88' at Mollenkopf and we got robbed by some shady officiating. Phantom pass interference calls on the last drive and they tried a QB sneak from the 1 yrd. line with 50 seconds to go on 4th down. We came up from the pile with the ball the official took the ball out of T.R. Rivera's hands, gave it to their QB then signaled TD. I still remember coach Owen running clear down into the end zone and screaming at the refs. He later said Massillon would never play Warren again as long as he was coaching at Massillon. My parents said after the game Warren fans were coming up to them and saying sorry for the bad officiating. I think we lost 21-19. Crazy place to play a game.

DE #53,

Do you know how many teams lost at Mollenkopf Stadium from 2001-04? People don't have to care about Warren Harding High School if they don't want to but for three straight years, the Raiders were #1 in Ohio, #1 in the midwest region, possessed superior depth at all positions, and they scored FIRST in every home game but one!

But anyway, I'll be devoted to my TV at 3:30 to see the Rich Rod Rodriguez era begin at the University of Michigan! Hail to the victors!!!!!!

DE#53,

Why don't I tell you that Thom McDaniels was UNDEFEATED whenever he had a lead going into the fourth quarter as Harding's kingpin. He never lost in seven years as the head coach of the Raiders when he led after three quarters.

By the way, you know Raiders fans were the most respected during that run. And I have been around Harding fans and have nothing but praise for them for the way they conduct themselves around each other and fans of other schools.
