I really thought he would do well. I hope he doesnt turn out to be ANOTHER in a LONG line of failures.

Gamble has had his scholarship revoked due to failing grades. He can still play but must pay his own tuition.

I understood it that he was not on the team at this point in time. Regardless of scholarship or not.

I don't think people understand just how hard it is to fail courses if you're a football player in D.1. You literally have other people doing your work for you at "study table". That alone should get you a C-.

Have not heard this for certain but know he has many off field distractions so am sure it's a possibility.

It's really a shame when a kid like this does not take full advantage of his opportunities. Such talent but not enough focus.

Which leads me to believe that perhaps it's something more than grades. Who knows? Perhaps Monte. He knows all these guys in college now.

There is no reason for an athlete to be failing. Football games are not played till Saturdays...that's more than enough time for one to get to class and get whatever assignments needed to be done.

Maybe MTown knows this better than anyone since he attended and graduated from Ohio State University: just how long are classes at OSU?

Brian and his girlfriend welcomed a son on August 21. Brian asked Coach Zook is be excused until January to spend time with his new son. He plans on returning to school and the football team in January. He is not flunking out and still has his scholarship. Bobby talks to him often.

How about alittle credit for taking care of his responsiblities. He could have easily walked away but he's doing what should be done. Please stop putting these kids on pedestools so you can kick them when they fall off.

Most day classes are 48 minutes long (plus 12 minutes to allow time to get to class in the huge expanse that is OSU).

Going to class is just the beginning of a college education. To be successful, you should spend 2-4 hours (maybe more) working for each hour you're in class (i.e., YOU need to do the learning, which consists of alot more than temporarily borrowing the knowledge from a professor so you can pass a test).

I think his main goal should be to get a free education from a fine university so he can care for his child in the long term. By leaving he is increasing his chances of never going back. Best of luck to him.

There's more to it than this. I've heard from three different people the same story.

In spite of my somewhat unsympathetic view of the recent turn of events, I think we should all be somewhat reserved in discussing the intimate personal details of someone's life. After all, he is still entitled to some degree of courtesy and privacy, is he not?

girlfriend + son = moron

Lips over hips and he'd still be in school.

I thought you just said something about courtesy???? You should of thought about that a few posts ago......

The minority of my classes at OSU are 48 minutes. Most are 1 hour and 48 minutes. Some classes I have taken have been like 3 hours long...
