Jordan lost 41-37 at home to Northridge (8-3 in 2007). From the Salt Lake Tribune:
SANDY - Blame it on the cobwebs. The first game of the season kicked off at 4:30 p.m. Friday, and the first quarter looked everything like a pair of inexperienced teams trying to work off the rust. What followed was a rollicking 41-37 Northridge win over Jordan. The game started with five punts and a turnover on downs. There was only one punt the rest of the game as the Knights scored with just over 7 seconds left to secure the win.
"[The Knights] brought it up before the game that our season ended on this field, in that end zone, on the last play of the game last year," Northridge coach Erik Thompson said. "It was just one of those games. The team who had the ball last won."
Not quite. Jordan got the ball back at its 21 with 2.5 seconds left. One failed hook and ladder later, the Beetdiggers' fate was sealed.
Jordan was trailing 34-31 with 2:58 left in the game when it took possession at its own 23-yard line. Quarterback Alex Hart broke free on a 45-yard run to help set up his own 7-yard touchdown dive with 1:24 to play.
But it was too much time and a couple of big errors that did in Jordan.
An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty followed the touchdown celebration, and the ensuing kickoff sailed out of bounds.
Northridge quarterback Junior Cole took advantage of the gaffes. With 25.7 seconds left in the game, Cole took the snap and hit Chris Washington at the 4-yard line. After a penalty and a running play left Northridge at the Jordan 8-yard line, Washington ran a hook route in the end zone and hauled in another Cole pass for the win.
